Lithium Ion Battery—Reccomendations

Who has one on a 996TT...

what has the experience been like?
Any special install considerations or brackets needed?

While the weight savings is great, the primary reason Im considering one is for the “smart” features that basically put the battery to sleep before it drains too much.

typically I trickle charge, but not always...I hate having to go through the jump procedure on this car

I'm interested in this too. I've been watching the technology improve and get cheaper over the years and it could be time to try this out...

Would love to hear more about the "re-start technology" and what it took to get it mounted properly.

What size and amp hours did you go with?

Given that its winter, do you also have it on a tender or are you just relying on the re-start feature?

I had it on a li-ion tender all winter. I took the battery tray out and made a u-shaped bracket that screws onto the plate to hold the battery in place. Its 44 out today, and I just got my car out of storage. It was hesitant to start, but fired up. I'm not sure if its because its cold, or maybe the tender doesn't keep the battery fully charged. I bought the atx-30 model, which is smaller than an automotive battery. I honestly bought it because Sellinger had one, so obviously I assumed it was the best. I think for what I use my car for, it should work fine. I'll give some opinions after I've actually used my car for a while with it in there.

I have been using the Voltphreaks battery for a couple years now. It's been great. As we're all aware, our cars have a tendency to drain the battery while sitting. Has saved me from jumping the car a number of times. Extremely light and they make a nice custom holding bracket as well.

I've been using a Shorai lithium ion battery in my 996tt. I've been using it 2.5 years originally in my Subaru track car, and now in my porsche. It's only 4 lbs! Plus It died on me because I did not drive my car for 2 weeks and I resurrect it super easily with a generic lithium battery charger. I daily my porsche and I highly recommend this battery regarding the price, durability, and overall weight. Only caveat is that I recommend unplugging the negative terminal to preserve the battery if you are not driving it > 3 days. And I recommend getting a charger if you are not driving it > 2 weeks. I put an ATX-30 in back October 2018 and started this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...battery-4.html

Should probably refresh the fancy zip ties I used to tie it down, but a 6lb battery is not much.
Long story short, the battery has worked fine in my car that regularly sits for a couple weeks, much more than 3, you may need a jump box but after a 15 minute drive it is back to normal/fine. I leave the engine lid popped if I park it for a long time so I can just use his XP-10 starter I keep in it.
