IPD plenum vs ESMOTOR gt3 style plenum power difference??
IPD plenum vs ESMOTOR gt3 style plenum power difference??
Im looking at with upgrading to a 997.1 competition IPD center plenum or the esmotor center aluminum plenum upgrade to wrk do to a set of gt3 runners I have.
Anyone have any flow or direct power number differences??
I have a very highly modded 1000whp 996 turbo with 997.1 runners at the moment.
I need to order something this week before tuning is done. Looking for some info from the experts.

you only gain at mid range with the ipd and that is the the point you loose traction and dont need more / over 5000 rpm you gain nothing and perhaps you loose a little bit with a 74mm IPD)

Not an expert on the ES Motor intake vs the GT3 or even turbo intakes in general, but as far as the IPD goes:
Different motor, different set of circumstances, but the IPD is worth even less on a turbo than a NA motor. Go with whatever center plenum will allow you to connect your tb to the side plenums/runners size-wise.
that vid is misleading for a couple reasons, and one you fairly and correctly alluded to.
i.e. namely the "testing" was done on an n/a 997. the other that the focus was on power (hp) gains, rather than increased mid range tq - and that's the real story. when i installed my 68mm ipd i didn't want to go with a 74mm tb etc as it was low and mid range where my car lived, and did most of its screaming up ( and down but who cares about downhill lol ) very steep canyon hills. i didn't want any power gains that required higher upper range rpm's as the larger tb and associated parts "need", to perform maximally.
i too was more than circumspect about ipd's claims of whatever added HP owing to a more free flowing plenum.
but the ipd shines over the stock plenum for "mid range grunt". you feel it instantly and i promise it's not the "i feel it cos i bought it phenomenon" lol.
its genuine mid range tq increase not "power" per se. but as in added hp? = nah.
hey stevemfr still tipping my kronenbourg to ya. cheers.
