Yeah ohlins did update the partnumber of the replacement front coilover kit. The recall kit is p/n POZ 5V20. The rears were unaffected. The camber plates are straight off the Elephant Racing site for our cars. I guess ohlins worked directly with them, which is kinda cool.

I'm not sure what the new part number for the complete set will be after the recall is complete - doesn't look like that is available yet.

I imagine the set will cost a bit more too next go-round.

As far as install, it's really straight forward. I didn't document it, just did it. Jack the car up, take the wheel off, drop a couple links, undo the top hat, and drop em out. Nothing special.

You're supposed to disconnect the front axles as well. I pulled mine out of the diff and put them back in but this caused my seals to leak.

This rings a bell. I may have also unbloted my axles. What do you mean pulled them out of the diff? They're just flange bolted face-to-face... also curious what seals messed up and how? Hopefully I didn't cause any issues that I haven't noticed yet!

The axle splines in the diff are just held in with some compression C clips. I forgot to unbolt my axles and they just pull straight out of the diff.

The front mounts add stack height to the coilovers. Did you notice it sitting higher or adjust it back down?

I honestly haven't gotten around to installing the recall kit yet.

I will say that I added like 10mm to the ohlins recommended setting all around and its still too low for me. I will welcome some added stack height, as I was going to add more during this install anyway! I'm pretty meticulous about my note keeping so when I do it, I'll have the numbers (they aren't in front of me right now). I'm glad you mentioned that bc I probably would have been scratching my head as to why the front was higher than I anticipated.

Late to this thread, sorry.
Apparently the Ohlins recall process involves purchase of a new system.....and the credit back once the removed parts are returned.
Interesting on the Elephant plates...as I went to those in 2018 so they are on the car.
We'll see how this goes. I feel fortunate to have stumbled on this thread and wonder to what lengths Ohlins will go to find owners out there.

They didn't charge me any money.

The money you are eligible to get back (up to 490 USD) is if you pay to have them swapped by a professional shop. You must show proof, and then ohlins pays the shop who then refund you - if I read it correctly.

Good info.
I'll circle back and let you know how Ohlins ends up handling it w/my shop.
Thanks.

Holy jeez. It took me about 8 hours to do the swap. Its so tedious to transfer all the threaded collars and lock rings from the old to new struts...

I won't do a "write up" as its all been done before but I will throw up a few pics to show what I believe to be the minimum amount of members to remove in order to do this.

I replaced my front coilovers with the recall kit from Ohlins USA. I contacted them just after Christmas and got the recall kit on Jan 12. Changed them out and sent the recalled parts black on the 14th. They told me to have it aligned, send them a copy of the bill and they would reimburse me. I will get it aligned later this spring when I get back in town.

That's sick. I was hoping they would do that! Good to know
