Whistling sound from rear

G'day all.

My beast, X50 TipS Cab makes a whistling sound occasionally from the rear at between 2,500 to 3,000 RPM while accelerating, then it goes away. Feels that is coming from the drivers side. I had been reading that it would be the Aux/secondary Air Pump, and hope is not the turbo. Any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

Thank you. That is what I was thinking. I am more experienced with naturally aspirated engines and not turbos. I am however, a Quick Study :-)

I had a similar hiss on my 996 Turbo, exactly in this rev range. In my case, it was indeed the secondary air pump – a rather high-pitched and brief noise. The turbo instead makes a more constant whistle or a leaky noise. If the performances are good and no error codes, I would also bet on the pump. To watch, but nothing alarming in my opinion

Thanks, I purchased one that odly enough is made in China. FCP Euro has two units, one OEM and one also made in China. So lets see how the Chinese goes. I also purchased a new relay as it is stated somewhere that it should also be changed. Once I do the exchange, I will take apart the old one and refurbished.
