Difference between US and ROW Turbo rear bumper...

Anyone know the difference between the US and ROW Turbo rear bumper? Is it the same bumper without the bumperettes? Or is it actually a different bumper?

It's the same design bumper but without the bumperettes. So it's a different part number if that's what you meant.

Up to the 996, we used to get US type bumpers. Not anymore with the 997. This is a picture of my bumper which had the bumperettes removed and the holes filled in.

i guess my question is, would a US bumper with the bumperettes removed and holes filled look EXACTLY the same as the ROW bumper? The space for the license plate would be the same width, or would the US look funny because of such a wide space?

I guess I answered your first quistion. My car came with the bumperettes and I had those removed. We have a choice of plate sizes here so, in your case, it's all a matter of personal choice. This is the only picture that I have of a small, US type, license plate with a Euro bumper. Hope it helps.

I have removed my black bumpers from my car. But you have to remove the rear bumper cover to access the aluminum holders that are attached to the bumper, these are riveted on and can be tapped out fairly easy. You are left with two large square holes with one hole with a half circle for the european bumper tow hook. American spec have tow hook , center, right under the license plate. euro spec is on the upper right. You can get creative to mask these two holes. if you install euro spec rear bumper cover you will not have a tow hook unless you drill hole under the plate. or redrill hole where euro has them.

Very good description.

The bumpers are the same. Porsche cuts the holes out for the US version. I removed mine as benguss described above and here is my solution. I used the holes for my nitrous vents.

great pix cjv!! On mine I put a aluminum screen on the inside with aerospace fasteners that show thru the bumper to give it a "raw" look. I also cut the square holes bigger to get rid of the euro tow hole. I really like your set up. While I was at it , I cut a slit to install a race tow ring just above the euro hole. It looks ok but I wish I didn't install the red tow hook ....I guess a little prepuberty got hold of me!!
