Help!!! Boost Problem

Hey guys. I am having a problem getting full boost on my 2001 996TT. I know, Limp Mode, right? I'm not so sure. The car has an EVO stage IV with headers, 100 cell cats, straight pipes, and billet diverter vales. It will intermittently max out at .4 to .5 bars of boost, then spike to 1.1 bar without any consistent pattern. I initially would disconnect the battery to reset the ECU for about an hour which led me to believe it was in Limp Mode, but now it comes and goes without resetting ECU. Help!!! Could it be a leak in the system, i.e. diverter valve hose, turbo boost controller problem, or is running straight pipes with cats causing it?

I appreciate any suggestions for I am taking the car to VIR on Sat-Sun for a track weekend and would like to have this sorted. Don't want to be passed and embarrassed by the Vipers and Zo6's. Lol

Thanks,
Bill

Although I'm not any expert, sounds like a leak...hoses? I'd get it in for a check. good luck..you should be hitting like 1.2 at WOT with a stage 4 setup

Sounds like one of your boost hoses is partially out... With a leak like that your car will run just like it is Take your bumper off (after you've checked the ones to the y-pipes) and see if the hoses going to the intercoolers from the y-pipe are slightly out.

Boost leak may lead to engine running too rich so don't drive the car for too long.

Thanks Sharky and everyone for their replies. I tried tightning all the boost hoses and it seems to have fixed the problem. I will be at the race track all weekend so that should shake out any gremlins for sure.

Gracious!
