German Tuner I had never heard of before now
While browsing through the latest issue of 911 & Porsche World, I came across a small artcle regarding Manthey Racing ( a German team) launching a tuning division. I checked out the site, http://www.manthey-racing.de and found some pictures that I really liked, so I thought I'd pass them on to the rest of you. It looks like a very quality operation. What do you think?

I liked the treatment of the front fenders and rocker panels. I never did like the rear. I think their latest interation in the rear is slightly different. I requested pricing on the kit and they were very quick to respond. I know cjv and, I think, Watt both like them.
I ended up bagging on the idea due to the need to substantially space out the front wheels to fill the fenders. The fender extensions were on the order of 1.5 to 2 inches per side. That would require extreme offsets on the wheels in addition to spacers. I am not making any negative comments. I had already purchased my wheels and tires and did not want to change them.
Cary Eisenlohr has done a one-off on his own that looks very similar to these pics.

I was considering doing that bodykit... but it is extremely expensive, something on the order of about $25-30K. It does lighten the car by about 130lbs. and is wind tunnel tested.
They use a derivative of this bodykit in racing. It is actually made by Light-Weight, a composite panel builder in Germany.
Manthey is a very successful race team. Their 996TT placed 3rd in the 24H Nurburgring this year and also had the fastest qualifying time. Their engine tuning is second to none, and their facility is within spitting distance of the 'Ring, which is why many Ringers go there for supplies (parts)...

I also liked their treatment of the GT3. I liked that front end particularly well. BTW, the reason for the article was to announce that Manthey Racing products are going to be imported to the UK by Hertfordshire based specialist, JZ Machtech. The article goes on to say that typical converssions are 520-t50bhp 911 turbo engines and GT3's modified to 400bhp or else taken out to 3.9 litres and 495bhp. Pretty impressive numbers and even more so if it is really true that they under claim their numbers!
Lately I am leaning toward the wide body look more and more. I agree with you Ken about the rear in that rear qtr shot. It looks a little trans am like. But from another angle, looking on the side from front to rear, it looks ok. Has anyone had a good look at the Patritti wide body kit? That one is growing on me too.

I would put them in the league of being tops with RS Tuning, and PSI. They are not pretenders or wanabees like many out there I can assure you.
