Wheel question
Wheel question
Just picked up an RTurbo complete with Ruf wheels. Considering swapping wheels out and wanted to get some opinions. This would be largely a street setup (19") however if the car starts seeing more track time, the wheels should function adeqately until I get a dedicated track setup.
Here are my choices:
Sportec Mono 10
OZ SL III
Kinesis F110
HRE C21
What do you guys think?

Congratulations on the new RUF! Looks beautiful.
Here's my wheel suggestion if you want to track it. Keep the 19" wheels that came with it for the street and buy a set of these RUF modular wheels for the track.

The one piece RUF wheels are pretty heavy but these should be lighter. I have no idea on the weight but maybe RUF Autocenter can answer that quistion. All I know is that they are made by Speedline and a friend here has them on his turbo R.
Dude! Keep the RUF wheels on your RUF car. No question. And this coming from a guy who has four sets of wheels for his 997, and is always looking for more. I love those wheels on your car!
Beautiful car Silversurfer. Those wheels look fantastic on that car, I'd leave them alone. Honestly, unless YOU are a really good driver, you wont see the advantages of a lighter wheel. Less sprung weight is obviously an advantage, but to truly take advantage of the benefits, you need to be a good driver. For the very occassional track day, I'd just stick to the stock Ruf wheels because you're not going to find wheels much better looking than them, they are awesome and there's just something about REAL Ruf Wheels that's intangible even when compared to more expensive wheels. If you plan on doing a lot of tracking, then sure it'd be worth it to get a set of dedicated track wheels, but if you're going to do that, how about them CF Dymag's for the lightest possible unsprung weight. Here's a link to a recent thread about them here on 6speed https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ighlight=dymag Not cheap, but WOW!

If weight is an issue for you, then definitely the Kinesis F110. I actually just picked up a set of these last week and they are getting powdercoated flat black to go on my blk/blk turbo. I'll post pics when they are on....I can't wait, as I lowered the car with JIC/Cross coilovers but have been riding on the stock wheels and it looks lame.....so I can't wait to put the Kinesis on next week.
