Run on the strip to confirm Dyno?????

Do you always have to take your car to the strip after taking your car to a Dyno ?? Or is only if your results are off the accepted numbers?
Can the Dyno be skipped and just proceed to the strip for the real numbers??

I have always done both. But if I had to choose between one or the other, I would choose the dragstrip.

Agree with Scott and Sonny. The dragstrip is a better gauge for hp. Baselinie the car for hp figures on the dyno and verify it on the strip. MPH is the key.

I agree as far as trap speeds... as a measure of HP... but just liek CF manipulation there are atmospheric changes at the strips... so when Scott ran 126 mph at 55 degree temp( i think)... that will not be a standard for any of us.. and of those guys in AZ...
So do both and chose a common sense approach... dont go on a 110 degree temp day to the track... nor do the extreme opposite...

The big black dyno never lies. It always tells you how much power your car made on that day at that place.

So, to compare the increase in performance, I should have at least a dyno or a strip run before the modifications?. I ask because seems that there are different performance numbers between stock TT's ( according to several posts).

Thanks
Divi

Dynos are great for tuning but taht's about all. To compare performace they aren't that great. The best you can do is get a before and after dyno on the same Dyno Dynamics machine in Shootout Mode.

dyno numbers can be manipulated by the operator...especially a mustang dyno due to the operator inputting vehicle weight and other parameters. Changing the weather correcting factor can also vary results by more than 100hp.

At the end of the day the dyno is nothing more than a tool used for tuning a car.

The track MPH is the true test of HP. Granted if you track your car on a 50 degree day with a negative DA you're going to put up some awesome MPH...the opposite if you track the car in a 100* day with 5000' DA. Just take every trap speed you post up and consider the conditions before jumping to conclusions.
