Are Aftermarket Diverter Valves a necessity when reflashing ECU?

I'm planning to have my ECU flashed with Upsolute software tomorrow. The salesman says I should also install aftermarket diverter valves to go with the flash. He wants $300 for the diverter valves, and $190 to install them. Do I need to spend this extra money or can I live with my stock diverter valves? My car is a 2001 TT with only 14,000 miles on it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would personally do it if you are planning (I am sure you are) to continue doing things to your car. Its $500 you will never feel powerwise, but its a good way to know that your stock plastic one's are not leaking.

The DV's will go eventually..probably sooner than later with the flash. But you can wait til they go to replace them.

I didn't do them and one of the factory units literally popped apart (blew up). Do it and never worry about it. Nobody wants to get stranded and towed

Aside from all the reasons listed no one has mentioned when they fail and if they come apart where do you think that rubber out of the units goes?? That is right...down the inlet of the turbo. This will destroy the compressor wheel and hurt the turbo. I have had cars with 2K miles on them do this. It happens more than you think. It happens on stock cars or not stock cars.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess it's almost a unanimous consensus. I will be sure to get the diverter valves installed.

Are there any other parts that I need to install to insure proper operation of the flashed ECU?
