Upsolute installed

Usually I do not mod my car other then exhaust and headers and suspesions but I thought I would take a chance. From the discussions on this board and my discussions with Powertech, who just became a new dealer for them, I went ahead and did it.
Since I was there first customer they were a little skeptical about the claims. So they installed the chip and ran my car before and after on their new Dynapack Chassis Dyno. it is 2 wheel and really small. As discussed before they take the wheels off and bolt the rears to the dyno. They disconnect the front differential. To assure the chip worked with no problems they ran my car on the dyno for over 10 hours checking all parameters, fuel, boost levels, intercooler temp etc.

Before mod my car put out 378.3 hp at the hubs. After 459 hp. With an estimated flywheel HP of 540. My torque numbers were before 391.6 at the hubs and after 518.3 estimated at the flywheel. Pulls were made in 5th gear.

Boost before mod was 11.5 lbs at 2800 rpm with a max of 12 at 6400 . Now I am at 16lbs (1 atmos) at 3200 rpm and a max of 17.6 at 6400 rpm What is interesting is that there is a slight drop off of boost at 4700 but starts to build up again. Now it was really cold in NJ this week so that may also have contributed to the high numbers. This review of all the operating parameters did not reveal any issues. He has the Porsche computer and there was no evidence of any changes or codes.

When I drove it I did notice 3 things the car is really fast now . The car idles a liitle rough but the only way I can tell is a slight variation in the needle of the tach. Also it appears that a 3000 rpm where you get that slight hesitation it has now moved to about 2600 rpm. The car runs great and is much more responsive. I will post the dyno charts once my son gets back from his date I am not the most computer literate person.

Arnie,
Join the club!!!
Congratulations!!!
But.....
10 hours on the dyno???!!!!
Whoa!! That seems very unusual.
It will be difficult to compare your hp numbers with others due to the type of dyno used. By its nature, your results do not show losses due to the front wheel drivetrain, nor due to the rear wheel tire slip on commonly used roller type dynos.
Impressive results nonetheless! Enjoy! At least now I know enough not to enter into a race with you on the highway next time!!

10 hours

I was very nervous about detection of the chip and any potential harmful effects. My friends at Powertech also wanted to know everything possible about how the chip works, what parameters are changed, fuel ratios etc,. so that they could sell the chip and not be worried of any potential damage done to customer cars. This was all discussed ahead of time and agreed along with the costs since it was mutually beneficial to both of us. You are right it is a totally different dyno and hard to compare.

As for racing you You are still the best!!

P.S.

There is a seal grey turbo undergoing mods at powertech full s car go stuff including the real neat carbon fiber intakes, ball bearing turbos, headers etc he is going for 700 hp. Anybody we know??

Looks like the Upsolute adds about 80-90 HP by itself . Diff dynos give diff absolute numbers , but your before/after numbers on the SAME dyno on I presume the same day are what's important .
BTW, my Upsoluted car idles smooth like stock - did you readapt the electronic throttle " idle position " before starting the car the first time ?
Factory manual says one must always do the following after either disconnecting the battery or pulling the ECU : turn key to ON but don't start for 60 seconds , then turn OFF for at least 10 seconds . Now start car and let idle a bit longer than usual before driving off. Otherwise , it will take up to a couple hundred miles of normal driving to smooth out( readapt ) the idle .

Main " problem " with reprogrammed ECUs is that the Turbo's short 1st and 2nd gears combined with a " low " redline are over so fast, that you don't feel the acceleration - you're too busy working the clutch/shifter trying to avoid the instant banging of the rev limiter . 4th gear " warp " pulls are truly amazing , though.

Upsolute

All dyno results were done one day apart because of the need to send the files for upgrade. I do not know if the idle was readapted, thanks I will check. I hope I do not get crazy, my 996 was modded but mostly with appearance pieces and suspension. It cost me a lot and my car was difficult to sell.

As for Ken I hope I do not get that crazy or I will be living in my car

What about the seal grey turbo I saw that is being modded. It also has factory painted body color wheels, really nice. Goal is 700hp

Do you have a link to POWERTECH's website? I can't seem to find it.

Dude, unless you live on a different planet, 1 atmosphere (or bar) is 14.7 not 16.0.
