Firebird Raceway Friday forcast
As long as it doesn't rain this Friday Firebird Raceway should have better drag conditions with density altitude of about 3500 ft starting around 8 of the clock. For the past several weeks conditions have been around 7000+ ft DA. As long as it doesn't rain people should be able to knock off some faster mph.
This brings on the problem for for ETs that are too fast for tech inspection. Guys like RennTechV12 with his GT 2 and some of the other fast cars have potential to get thrown out their first pass if they go all out. Are there ways to not get thrown out and still have some fun? Would it be possible to roll into the start and linger for a couple seconds? You can always go back and figure your ET by subtracting down to your normal 60 ft time. The other way would be to knock off some harder launch 1/8 runs for the first half and put them together with the last half of lazy start runs. Would this work?
I think my car might pass tech for 13.99 and I'd really like to go.

Greg, what I used to do was to roll forward about 3 feet and stop when the light turned green to start the clock and count to 2 (1 thousand 1, 1 thousand 2) and then launch. I was running low 12's at 140+ MPH
(this is back when you had to have a cage for anything uner 12.0) and they didn't say anything. Back then you needed a parachute @ 150 MPH (I hit 143 MPH, although I had one pass that was 2 MPH faster in the 1/8th so it would have probably been 145+ in the 1/4). Now the parachute rule I believe is 135 MPH so you could get kicked out for that even if you are running above 11.5.
BTW I have heard they are considering lowering the cage requirement to 10.99....

I called Firebird and got the run down on my Shelby Cobra with no top or side windows. In addition to the usual a fire jacket and arm restrainst are required along with the aproved helmet. I have all the requiremtns for the tech inspection now and will be alowed to preform 13.99 or worse.LOL I figure I'll be a bit slower than last time the Scottsdale Exotic Car Club had drag day as I'm with a new stiff shifting tranny and DA will be higher, but I'll still need to wait a few seconds after pulling forward. Basically I'll just be going for fun and testing things for when the real fun starts this winter.
You guys will have to get me on video with a Honda beating me in time.
