Not too sure...one thing of relevance though is that when I bought my 03TT new, I had to sign a form for Porsche North America saying that I can not take this car out of the US (could be NA?) for the first 12 months of ownership or I would be subject to a $10,000 fine for violating that condition...Same was true when the Mercedes CL first came out here.
wow really? I did not know that, i guess they predicted the exchange rate variations perhaps?
But at the end of the day i would be looking for a 01 car or early 02 model

It costs around 3k us$ to ship a car (by boat) across the atlantic. You actually pay to ship a container, so if you find someone else wanting to ship a car ... it'll cost half. That's how we did it anyways (not a porsche, and from europe to canada).
Seeing you're in england, it might be not that complicated to make it legal (compared to other european countries ... )
