Fuel issue Please read...

So i get a call from the dealer...This is exactly what they said..

"The Porsche Rep came in yesturday and heard about the 3 fuel pumps you have had replaced... They would first like to compensate me for the down time of the porsche...then they want me to bring it back in next week and have the "Fuel Jets" replaced... that compensation would be that porsche would pay for a month or so of my payment..."

First problem is my porsche is paid outright...so how much is the average payment you think on an 05 turbo s cab...

More important...

What are FUEL JETS>.... Please someone tell me ... I thought maybe he ment fuel injectors but he said the Jets are located in the fuel tank...

Thanks yall..

fuel jets? Did someone swap your fuel system for a carburetor? If the pump isn't in the tank, and the filter isn't in the tank, what else could be located in the tank? I guess they don't want to lemon the car, huh?

A jet in a carb is what supplies the fuel so it can mix with air and go into the block. You sometimes have to rejet carbs for running at different altitudes or with different power mods.

BTW, if this guy is talking about fuel jets on your car, you need to make sure you get clear information that he knows what the hell he is talking about. Otherwise, don't let him touch anything. If he doesn't make it clear enough for you to understand it perfectly, don't trust him at all.

sounds like a non technical guy making warranty decisions. if the fuel delivery system has been replaced before several times, don't trust this will make it right. it's possible they don't know the root cause. go to another dealer if you could and get free extended warranty if yours is ending soon.

well its oddd. Its not the dealer saying the jets need to be replaced...It was the Porsche North America represenative that told the dealer... They just said bring it in...There are 2 jets at the bottom of the gas tank that need to be replaced.

As far as the payment goes I would say it would easily be $2500/month for a 5 or 6 year note.
Ive never heard of any Jets in any fuel tank but what do I know.
Also, my experience with buy backs might be of interest. I looked to buy a car that a maserati dealer was selling. An 02 turbo. They said it was bought back by porsche for a faulty navigation system. I thought that was kinda strange, after researching it I found out the car was bought back (lemoned) at 10k miles because of "stalling/ stopping". Kinda sounds like what your car might be doing. Just an FYI. Hope that helps.

It was a pretty sweet car. had 12k miles, yellow calipers, deviated yellow stiching with sport seats, small carbon, slate gray. Really wanted it. asking 78k 6 months ago. Seems like the market really took a hit in the last 6 mo?? I think they would have sold it for 72. I was about to go for it until I found the real cause of the buy back.

My 03 TT was bought back for the same "stalling/ stopping". problem Its a goood thing you stayed away because my car spent about 2 months in and out of the shop and was never fixed. Porsche even brought in 2 guys from Germany to work on it. It was a beatiful car though. Sp. yellow with areokit, ceramics, x50, and a ton of carbon fiber. Man I loved that car and really tried to get the thing fixed. A friend of mine who deals in high end sport cars said he saw it sold on an online auction house for dealers for 68K
