LOL... It could very well be the seal on the upper part of your windshield, or a burnt out wheelbearing, is it an overpowering roaring sound as speed gradually goes higher?

The sound starts happening at around 150mph and it is an overpowering humming sound that increases as speed gets higher!!!

Hmm weird, only at 150+.. Mine was from 60 on up, but my wheel bearing was shot i found out, could very well be the windshield, take it to a glass guy and see if there is a gap between the seal and windshield!

I have never driven my car 150. Too fast for me. I will never hear that wind sound.

Now that's surprising to hear someone with a Turbo state they've never taken their car to 150mph... I could see perhaps on a sport bike being a bit timid of 150, but a 996 Turbo S like yours asks to be driven at those speeds.

Back to the subject at hand... I would have the windshield checked as well - that would be my step 1... You need to get that possibility out of the way.

I had it happen once at a little over 180, and it was the side window. Next time I opened the window slightly, and no problem. I never did figure out if it was internal pressure from the front vent letting air in the cabin (it was a dp935) or vacuum/low pressure effect from air traveling over the window. I know it was weird and startled the hell out of me. I have an old vhs video of it with my banker friend holding the camera.
