My TT is injured!!!
A woman pulled out of parking lot right in front of my wife. Her 740iL had all front damage and cost about $7,000 to fix -- paid by the at-fault’s insurer. I then sued for my wife's bodily injury -- her neck hurt for a couple of weeks, she had headaches, and she strained her right hip. She had no medical care whatsoever. I also claimed “loss of use” of the 740iL and used a rental value of $300 per day, proved from rental sites on the internet. Last, I made a diminished value claim based on the insurer's "pre-wreck" appraisal, subtracting the price for which I sold the car after it was repaired.
We settled for:
Diminished value: 5,600.00
Injury: 2,500.00
Loss of use: 9,000.00 (don’t forget this one – do not accept a rental car from her insurance company)
These numbers were very fair, and I could have proved more on the “loss of use” at trial. It did, however, help that I am a lawyer and pursued the claim myself.

Thanks for the kind words Hani!!! Did you ever make it to Hawaii???
The other party's insurance company has stepped up and accepted 100% liability for the damages. Now, I'm just waiting for their decision as far as a total loss or repairing it. Their position is that the car is entirely repairable, but it might be better for them to total the car since the rental for another 996 (not TT) is approximately $11,000 a month. The car will be in the shop for at least 6 months minimum. Plus, they have to pay for all my wheels and suspension that were damaged in the accident.
The funny thing is...when they saw my reciepts for the wheels and suspension, the insurance adjustor nearly had a heart attack! He told my lawyer, "1/2 the cars I insure don't even cost this much!"
We'll see...I should have some better news this week. It's been pretty much a waiting game...

werksracer...
I guess I could...I don't think I'm going to ask to retain the salvage title. I know at the end I'll be taking a loss, but I guess that's just life.
