Inspection Services

I'm shopping for a 01-02 996TT. Live in the Atlanta area and found a car that I'm interested in. I would like to have it inspected but after speaking to the Porsche dealership I don't think they will do a thorough enough job, particularly when it comes to any body work. Sounded like they would just fill in a checklist.

I also searched on the net and found some inspection services, but they seemed a bit generic. Does anyone know of a car inspector that specializes in Porsche in the Atlanta area? I'm also considering a long distance purchase from the Los Angeles area-recommendations there would be appreciated as well.

As long as I'm here, are there any specific issues that need to be checked in to with respect to these cars? Mileage on them is about 25k and they appear to be completely stock.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

I've used automobileinspections.com in the past to buy a porsche 996tt. They do a thorough inspection, drive the car, and take a bunch of pictures. I think they go to any state/city.

Thanks jbpricemd for the link-I'll check it out.

It looks like it's DC now. Know anyone in the Arlington, VA Area?

Just put a deposit down on a 2002 with less than 9k miles. Had a family member (non car guy) look at it and he said it was as advertised, at least externally. Now I need the inner workings checked out. I just want a guy that knows ALOT about these cars that can go over it with a fine tooth comb. Its likely out of warranty and based on the research I've done there's little chance of getting a third party warranty company to sign on (at least one that's credible). I want to make sure I don't get stuck.

Also, I've read a little about that 2nd gear pop-out problem. Most complaints seem to occur on the 2001 model. Does the 2002 model have the same issue?

Thanks again, can hardly wait to become an official member!

I would recommend Neil Orton at Orton Perfomance in Cumming, Ga (near Ga 400 and 141). A former Lemans mechanic who knows his stuff. Did ECU, suspension, shifter on my car. Great work, reasonable prices, car always returns spotless.
