So the car is running great. I take it in to get the Passport SRX installed. My mechanic calls me and says the car won't start (He hooked up the PST2 and it read codes on the alarm system). The imobilizer had locked us out. Have the car towed to dealer. Dealer replaces alarm system electronics and fuel pump (under warranty BTW with no hassles even with my mods.) So in 8,000 miles I've had the NAV system replaced, front differential replaced, O2 sensor, Steering Fluid Reservoir replaced, Fuel pump replaced and alarm system electronics module replaced. The good news is all under warranty
....the bad news that is absolutely pathetic reliability!!!

wross996tt lets see my list of replaced items... Navi, Cruise control, Head light, head light switch, convertible parts, repaint from bad wear on rear lid, 5 fuel pumps, fuel jets, fuel relay, fuel clips, fuel connections. The dealer put 300+ miles on my car with out premission, dent the door and scratched the front bumper... Then on top of all that there is a whinning noise comming from the front diff, the clutch pedal feels springy, and the driver side window doesnt always work (for me
)... so I totally feel you...

What were the problems you have in order to ahve a new engien so soon???
Sorry to hear that guys. It seems like the newer cars have more problem compare to '01/'02/'03. I remember Porsche were replacing engines on the '01.

you know, just because the dealer replaced all those parts, doesn't mean they were bad. these monkeys like to throw parts at cars under warranty rather than think about what the problem might really be. Like you have an immobilzer problem and they replace the fuel pump...it usually does stop working when the immobilizer kicks in. I had a dealer try and replace the window motors in both doors of a friends car recently...I asked them what the chances are that both motors went bad on the same day in a car with 5k miles on it and suggested they check the control module before replacing the motors...answer: its under warranty and we already ordered the motors.
your car is probably fine...get a new dealer.

Dave, You are so right...I've been to 3 dealers (the only ones in the Denver metro area) and they have said that Porsche NA says to them...just replace the parts. For example the only problem with the front differential was a leaking seal (very minor leak at that)...they replaced the whole thing. The fuel pump was interesting...it was fine when checked at my mechanics...what are the chances it failed when it arrived at the dealer? Oh well. I'll get it back in a week and back to the fun.
