'04 996tt cab sold on eBay for $84k?
'04 996tt cab, Black/beige, 28k miles, looks sparsely optioned, no reserve auction went for $84.1k. Why? Seems a bit low? Is it the mileage?

if it did go that cheap, then somebody got the deal of the century. the mileage isn't bad for a car almost three years old. sounds like it was a daily driver.
then again, looked at seller's feedback. he seems to know what he's doing as it appears he sells a lot of cars on there. maybe somebody did get a great deal? i wonder how he got it so cheap that he's making any money on it.
This is the type of thing that actually does drive market prices down - when people look at a car like this that "sold" for so little and assume it is real. On eBay you can post an item, with no reserve, and not worry about it selling too low because you manipulate your own auction. Either you or a friend bids on your auction and if the price doesn't go high enough you "win" your own item. All you are out is the auction fee.
People do this all of the time with the idea that a No Reserve auction will draw more attention and get more bidders as many think they will get a bargain. It is called shilling, it is against eBay policy, AND it happens every day.
Don't let shilling drive down the perceived market price.

Check the manahiem data and add about 3-4K for a seen TT an e-bay auction is exactly the same as manahiem.

Just because its a Porsche dont expect anything special. Sorry if you lost a boatload on your car but dont try and bid up the price of your asset. All the TT owners where saying the last thing last year as well 'no way prices will drop, I predict a price rise 3-4 months from now blah blah blah'.

Opinions are like *******s - everyone has one. My OPINION is that you would be hard pressed to find one this cheap and eBay is certainly not a good barometer of actual car selling prices - especially on the high end. FACT is that games are played every day on auction sites and if people are going to be basing perceptions on information garnered there then they need to at least understand the games that are played.
That said, you are absolutely right - this reflects Manheim pricing. But not many people have access to a direct auction and most will pay significantly more from the dealer lot or from an individual.
Here is the Manheim report from this morning:
09/14/06 RIVRSIDE Lease $81,000 29,536 BLACK
09/13/06 MILWAUKE Regular $89,000 28,578 GRAY
09/07/06 MANHEIM Regular $81,750 27,586 BLACK
06/28/06 ATLANTA Lease $87,000 24,215 BLACK
05/25/06 RIVRSIDE Lease $86,500 8,755 SILVER
05/03/06 ATLANTA Regular $98,000 9,619 GRAY
When I got mine last month, it was black, natural brown, a bunch of options, hardtop with 3000 miles. Stickered around 145 and had a $5k V1 stealth install.
I paid $95 and was accused of overpaying. Based on that, 84 may have been too much!

sounds like the TT owners who bought new are really taking it in the shorts at this point then..... that has got to hurt. i can't imagine eating 50-60K on a car in less than 3 years. everyone expects depreciation out of a car, but damn! looks like they should have bought 993TT's instead
i still see those for 70-80K all the time.
