GT2 Nose Conversion?
GT2 Nose Conversion?
My car was involved in a slow speed hit and run while parked at my son's school. Probably some soccer mom...
The good news is that there is absolutely no underlying damage. The car is going to need a new bumper cover to be paid for under warranty and will get the hood painted to get rid of some minor freeway paint chips. I'm assuming this is a good time to do a GT2 nose conversion?
What's involved? Will a good body shop know what to do and what parts to buy? Any recommendations in SF Valley Thousand Oaks area?
I thought about shipping the car up to Sharky, but that's like 300-400 miles away and is more headache than I want to deal with.

Glad there's no damage and sounds like it came out "ok". Still sucks to have that happen. It would be the right time to do the conversion. Not sure how close Arling is to you but I'm sure they've done it before...
You need to replace a whole bunch of parts, change the angle of the radiator (center) so it can fit the vent/shroud behind it. Sounds easy but it's not all that easy... (just ask bigbadben lol).

Like Alex said, this is not an easy project but a work in progress for me, various missing parts that I needed etc.
I don't mind working on my car and as it is off the road cos of winter I can take my time. My suggestion would be to take it to a shop that has done this a few times before.
I will finish mine once the weather warms up a bit.
Good luck ari,
Ben

Thanks guys. Any idea what the parts cost? As it stands I need a new nose cone and the insurance is going to pay for a new front lip. Total parts are about $1300 + labor.
Maybe I'll go with a new nose cone and a sportec lip... know who carries that?

Thanks everyone. I'm bummed, but it's not like I got T-boned or anything. The car is fine and the glass is mostly full.
I guess looking at all possible options right now.
I know the guys at Lucent. They are real standup folks (did my flash).
It seems I have been completely innundated at work lately and with a family comprised of small kids, it gets pretty nutty. It looks like this may be a harder (and more expensive deal) deal than I want to tackle. Maybe I'll just go with factory nose and a Sportec Lip....
Sent an e-mail about the Sportec.
Thanks

Sharky has done them before and that makes a huge difference. If u are just looking for the "look" anyone can put the bumper on but if u want a real functional GT2 front end it requires alot of work and a few key mods, if they have done it before (sharkster has) it will save much time= $ and ???????
