JIC Cross Porsche Drift Car for Formula D
Well you see us talking non stop about JIC Cross coilovers. Now they are putting the brand out there one step further!
Hankook Tires and CROSS North America are proud to announce North America's first professional Porsche drift car! Plans were set in late August to make a Porsche Drift car with Hankook Tire USA. The chassis is a 993 GT2 Turbo body with all the proper equipment. The 993 was originally a road race car but since many features of the car will apply to a pro-drift vehicle, very little modifications to the chassis were made. Exterior features a pearl white paint job that has been applied by DTM Autobody in El Monte, CA. Wide blister fenders, a rare JGTC Front Lip, and custom side steps were applied. Touching up the rear is a GT Wing. To propel the 993 into the corners will be a stroked 3.8 liter engine and feeding the engine will be six indivisual throttle bodies. Two IHI Turbos will boost the engine and custom CROSS exhaust manifolds and exhaust system will aid in expelling the gasses. The highly skilled technicians from the CROSS R&D Garage called ZIEL Sports will do all the engine building. The 993 made its debut at the Las Vegas SEMA Show on October 31st, 2006 and it made quite a stir within the drifting community. The driver will be legendary driving instructor and professional driver, Tyler McQuarrie (Overall 11th in points in Formula Drift in 2006). The 993 will be sliding around in the 2007 season at selected drifting events and the full Formula Drift Season. CROSS North America would like to thank our following supporters: Hankook Tires USA (http://www.hankooktireusa.com), Cobra Seats (http://www.subesports.com), and DTM Autohaus (http://www.dtmautohaus.com).
