Stiff Clutch Pedal

My car often has a stiff clutch pedal. The pressure varies during the driving, and is quite stiff at startup. Does anyone know if this is normal or what the remedy might be?

My 03tt had the same problem, Dealer replaced the accumulator and it went away...

Though I actually like a stiffer clutch.

Ditto, same here. It's much softer when the car is on right? I think it was like $250 for me....

You may also hear a whinning sound from the engine compartment (power steering pump is connected to clutch) that goes away when you depress the clutch...

What would happen if someone had put the wrong fluid in the power steering reservoir? Would that then affect the clutch since they are connected? How are they connected, there are two separate reservoirs??

Would this cause a leak? I have a slow leak in the driver's side front that the dealer couldnt locate (morons), and I have a stiff clutch petal.
