Veryon tested by Road and Track whose tt will beat it?

I don't get all worked up at the "with ease" part. It's a well tuned multi-channel traction control system, thats what it's built to do. Anyone who has played with an M800 for any length of time knows what they are capable of when you start altering boost by gear, wheel slip %, etc. It's dialed to the ****, but for $1.5mm it's to be expected.
Just wait till a certain someone gets a TT, carbon fiber, italian beauty finished and you'll see what really fast in a luxo car is. The V will still be hard to match from a dig on street tires, but anywhere else and it's going to get world class beat down.
I would be willing to bet with a little work an SL65 on drag radials would be right with it.
Maybe it's my youthful stupidity but I'm just not that into a boring automatic luxo sled no matter how quick it is. Give me something marginally comfortable with a manual and eleventy billion HP anyday. Some want a car that will run a mid 10 without spilling their latte... I want to go 8's in a car that doesn't even have cupholders and pretty much wants to kill you every chance it gets. Keeps things from getting boring.

I just know from going crazy on cars that werent built for the power per se, it gets dangerous and ANNOYING when you have no traction

But yea, im a driver. From me going to my turbo to GT2 i could have been well over 700 hp and tq in my turbo, but im happy with my 550-600 or so hp and tq in the GT2 because its so much more thrilling, just as a TT Viper would be to a Veyron prob hah
The thing I'm not too impressed with is that it has 16 cylinders and 4 turbos and it only gets 1000 HP? Vipers get 1200-1400 with 10 cylinders and 2 turbos. VRAlex's Pinks car was pushing what, 2500 hp with a boosted V8? It seems like the Veyron was way undertuned.
The veyron loses a lot of power because of heat. I read it in a magazine. I did a quick search and gound this.
"If the extreme engine power is a master stroke of genius, its conversion for road use is an equally tough challenge. As Dr. Schreiber says 'For 1000 HP propulsion power, the system demands approximately 2000 HPto be additionally generated as heat energy during combustion. Half in each case is dissipated inthe exhaust gas and cooling water'."

I would actually like to see a tuner car challenge in a 100 roll as someone suggested. I doubt very seriously that any boosted viper or TT would be ahead for very long. I have heard glory stories of TT vipers pushing 220mph with the windows pushing out, but fellas... the Veyron is good for ~250mph!

40mph difference in the 1/4 is DECADES on the highway. And if you don't think it will pull to 250 you're out of your mind. Hate to tell ya but 1600 RWHP > 1001 crank HP.
Oh and the "windows poping out" isn't like they explode and fly out of the car. It's due to a pressure difference (high pressure inside the car) due to the firewall vents. Most Vipers will have the windows "pop" between 185-200mph". In reality all they do is slightly dislodge from the door seal and let a little pressure out, doesn't hurt a thing. As well if some genius tries to fold the mirrors in thinking it will help aero, they pop back out around 175 or so.
If you want a speed comparison I've run an RT/10 viper (the roadster, which is FAR less aero than a GTS) with the top off, windows down, and pulled 80-210 in a hair under 10 seconds doing an easy 4th-5th roll. No wild hit in 3rd gear, no powershifting (you would die lol) just a nice easy roll, and the car even at 5600ft elevation was pulling like a freight train when we let off.
So like I said, find anyone with a Veyron who thinks it's fast and bring their checkbook. I'd love to break one off in that eruo sled with some american iron. We'll do an easy roll from 80ish to 220 (or however big their ***** are), or I'll just stop when I can't see their headlights in the rear view anymore.

Signed,
I'm your huckleberry
Its easy to build one one purpose in mind kind of a car... one can do it to just about any platform... Heck I raced my little 2.0 liter Evo8 against a supercharged viper and he was pleasantly surprised that I got him.... yet my car only has a GT35r... I could have put in a GT42r and go all out... but that is NOT the purpose of that car...
I asked once Ryan(Shank) why he sold his Underground construction twin TT... and he said it was to much hastle... not drivable... the clutch, tires, etc... simply a pain in the ***.
I never had one so I dont know... but when u get way up there.. drivability becomes an issue- I know just from my 640 awhp Evo8. and If anyone tells me IM full of it... well get in a Evo8 with a GT42r turbo and see how long ull last driving around town... Im assuming same goes for other cars liek supras and Vipers...
I may be wrong but this is just my opinion.. opinions are relative...markski

The Veyron does it all without headache, issues or anything which is what is so impressive and amazing in a car that has the performance figures it does.
Drivability is directly proportional to how the car is built and setup as I'm sure you're well aware.
Ryans TT Viper had a pair of 35R's on it which make the car a serious death machine. They hit so hard on that 522ci motor you have no hope of ever hooking up on street tires.
As bizarre as it sounds a much larger pair of turbos like the 76GTS or GT42-80 though having the potential to make a lot more power are also FAR easier to drive on a daily basis. Granted it's never going to drive like an M3 but it also makes 6x as much power. The tuning and setup of those cars has come a long way. 1200rwhp on pump gas you can drive to work everyday, take your wife to dinner in, and bust off an 8 at the drag strip when you feel the urge. I'm fairly tolerant (and actually like) a vehicle with some ***** and a little attitude, enough where I've nearly daily driven a viper for the past almost 2 years. If you accept the car for what it is from the beginning it only gets exponentially better with 3x as much power. Never going to be a Rolls but it doesn't want to be in the first place. It takes a special breed (with a few screws loose) to really love a car that wants to kill you, and will spin drag radials @ 140mph if you wish it to, but for those of us who do nothing less will suffice. Oh and the car was tame enough to drive in the SSCC town parade, through downtown vegas in 100+F temps, and tame enough to get caught in the rain coming back from lunch... on drag radials and it never even gave a hint of getting sketchy. All with nearly 1400rwhp under the go pedal. A lot has to do with learning how to drive a car like that and understand it always has you by the *****.
As I said for a production luxo sled it's a very quick car. How well they survive without headache is still to be seen. But to say it would outrun a well built TT Viper on the highway is down right spit water on your monitor, **** your boxers, side splitting funny. Thats my only criticism of the whole shebang.

I mean they look great and are FASSSSSTTTT but its really a straight line fast car at that point, unless dialing boost all the way down right? I mean how many TT viper guys actually track their cars road course wise?
Its all relative though, i guess they serve their purposes viper being a dragstrip/highway MONSTER and if people wanted a real roadcourse car they would buy one i guess. I just love the versatility of doing both
who can beat those numbers 1 time on the street (not prepped dragstrip)?
if you can do it - 1 time - you have a really fast car.
but guess what? the veyron can do it 50 times in a row.

fyi, the veyron runs about 205 mph in the standing mile. a viper srt coupe with hennessey tt system ran 218 in the mile last year for a motor trend test. the veyron can be beaten but even a really fast car is going to need 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to catch it and pass it.
