Heh.. I certainly do not claim to have the cajones or stupidity to go 250 mph in a street car. Maybe we could get that little guy from top gear to do it.

I'll have to take your word for it, but if a stock bodied (or nearly that) viper can reach 250 mph and not become an airplane, the designers deserve some respect.

I'll have to go watch the Texas mile this year and see some of these cars. The last time I read about the trap speeds was a few years ago and I think a modded ZR1 had the top trap of around 200 in the mile. How times changes, eh?

Lets just say forget flat out top speed... I'll go on a limb and say there will be a car or two ripping 250 in a standing mile in 07' If you need 3 miles to get up to speed whats the effin point.

And yes with out easily a full street trim TT viper will get up to 230 I have no doubt they will run past 250 flat out.

With all this talk about oh but it will do 250mph... who (other than Alex, myself, and a select few others) has the stones to hold it wide open with the speedo buried and the tach climbing? There is a requirement about talking a little smack about a car, you have to have the brass (and idiocy) to drive it yourself before you can make such claims.

The cars are amazing... they are far more stable @ 170 than they are at freeway speeds.

Oh and forget TX, you want to be @ Maxton for the event hot rod covers. I heard a little rumor from someone that an absolutely insane car should be there.

Frankly I could care less if I owned a Veryon that I could go 253 mph. There is no place to safely do it and you wouldn't do it very often. I would change the gearing to lower the top end and increase my 0 to 170 mph acceleration. With the different gears the Bug should do a mid 9 second quarter mile!

I don't really think so... it only uses the 7th gear if you're over 200ish, so it's not like the thing is geared to the moon to begin with. I'd be willing to bet the gears aren't any longer than a regular 200mph car... it just has another one.

If you are looking for a good road, use Google earth. the sad git that i am i look on it all the time trying to find the best roads around munich. It has a really good measuring device, and you can tell the software to look for elevation changes.

while we're on the topic of 0-300 (hope this isn't too much of a hijack...):

here's a 20 second R34:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZtTdvanSOo

another pretty quick R34 (stock botton end):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXU8S_D5S8Q

and of course the Veilside R32:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6wXrReEH5s

interesting that the R32 uses twin HKS 3037's. not very large turbos at all...

now we need some 911's doing 0-300 runs!

Buddy,

There is a road in Nevada with only one stop sign between Sparks and Cederville (hundreds of miles long). Mostly straight and many areas with no speed limit. You can peg your motor to your hearts content. It would be interesting to see for how long these (above) monsters can hold 220 mph plus (before they break that is). I'd really like to know what they are using to tires (above 216). That is if they are maintaining it for more than a brief nanosecond.

So far as the Veyron goes: Less than 12 minutes. After that, it's out of gas.

As for the tires, Michelin apparently made a run of tires specifically for the car with their PAX system, so, theoretically they won't rip off the wheel even if they blow.

Keep in mind if (and they definately will) Bugatti sells all the V's they will only break even...the main thing that will come out of this project is the R&D which we will eventually see in a MUCH cheaper version (around $150) Bugatti in the next couple years.

I've driven it, and been driven in it by their factory driver...It is a unique experience. Sounds like you are in the cabin of a G4 when cruising around, and that's the thing, you can really drive this beast to 7-11 if you want. Don't have to "drive it like it's stolen" all the time...but when you do...it doesn't move faster, it just seems like the scenery does.

The kicker is that all of the cars at Beverly Hills Bugatti have sold at least $200,000 OVER sticker.

When they first came out the deposite was $150,000.00 and the cost was $862,000.00. That was for number seventeen.

you are so simple minded

-the veyron my bet is it'll rip the hole outta any 6speed 911 in both turns and in the straights, but my bet won't ever be realized as no one as the facilities or the time to do this is my guess

-you can sip on your espresso with the ac on full blast on 405 LA traffic and be sitting pretty in the relaxing atmosphere of real aluminum, top of the world leather, etc and get the country club respect sitting behind that bugatti badge all backed by a factory warranty

it's simply an unreal car that comes once in a lifetime - well done vw

Price is 1.4 now if you order it. The ones they had "laying around" went for 1.6. I can check, but I've never heard of it below 1.3. I think your number is in pounds.

Of course you could call it a day and just go for this little bad-boy which the owner "would never swap for a Veyron"
