A friend of mine is considering a 2003 TTX50 and wants to know about upgrade costs on the following items:

• X73 Suspension
• Diverter Valves
• Exhaust System (Mufflers Only)
• Headers, cats and full exhaust
• ECU upgrades to match exhaust and maxmimize performance

Thanks for the input and recommendations.

 

Please tell him if he is going to mod his car to save the money on the X50 option. $18k for 35hp doesn't make much sense when you can tune your car to an extra 185hp for $14k.

Britt...Should he get a deal on an X50 then he'll be fine. Fabspeed quiet (comes w 100cellcats) for around $3Kish, Bailey D Valves $250-$300,Nix on the headers, Chip-Protomotive-GIAC- Have the Correct programs for this model or higher....easy 500-520rwhp & higher TQ.
Suspension around $2500....Then factor in labor for all the above.
(You'll still have your warranty & Gt2 intercooler,Beefed Tran,K24s)
No regrets with my car what so ever....
Or just get a cheap one and Mod the hell out it

 

Much confusion on what the X50 actually gives you. No beefed up tranny, not GT2 intercoolers, just larger ones. With the $18k X50 option, you get an ECU program, larger turbos, and a larger intercooler for $18k. Just so it is clear, my Evo Stage 2, $6900 outruns a X50 turbo(18K) all day long. Lots of lag on the X50, my car runs cicles around it, save that money on te X50 unless buying used as teh X50 opyion does not have much value at all on trade-in. Maybe $3000-4500 on your $18k investment

Here is what Porsche says about the X50 option on its car configurator under "More Information:"

"Raises power output to 444 hp. Includes modified turbo chargers, intercoolers, electronic control units and transmission. Note: Also available in conjunction with Tiptronic S."

It is priced at $17,880.
