A running pictorial of my monster Protomotive build
It seems that we change the goal post as it suits our needs.... such seems to be the case here....
Bottom line is that Euro tuners hide behide philosophy that they do no build P cars for "quick bursts..... only Americans do that...." yet just about every racing sport is about performance and acceleration... from horse racing to car racing....
If I wanted a Endurance racing tuned P car I would not buy a 996tt... If I wanted to run 180 mph for 10 minutes on the Autobahn I would get a 996tt and leave it stock- isn't that what a P car was meant to do?
It seems that Euro tuners have the general P car public fooled.... they bolt on basic KKK turbos... do some minor modifications like a K24/26 or k26/27 or something like that.. charge $5K for a set.... wack the customer another $5K for a flash and $5K for a exhaust.... the guy drives out with 550 hp and he thinks its fast because a prominent German tuner did it. Then at 640 hp they have to do a $40K motor build because it's too much stress on the motor. Please, stop fooling everyone... been there done that....
Sure, if you go to a company that builds race cars for 24 Lemans you will get a well balanced turbo P car thats 600 hp and can handle the track as well as 180+ mph for extended times... but if thats the case I would just get a gt3RS off the showroom floor and save $70K converting a 996tt ...
It is ironic how Porotomotive is exploding in Europe.. they are backed up 4 months just in fabrication for overseas clients.... things that make you go hhhmmmm...
The bottom line is that Euro tuners are slow everywhere else besides top speeds for extended times... they outsource the ecu progrmaming to a handful of bosch programmers.... 2 of which I know personally.... and they sell flashes off the shelf just like we do...
They all talk junk about us yet it takes them $500K to run 9s in a P car that looks like something out of "back to the future"...

Well said, Mark. The whole philosophy over there is much much more conservative. You really can't blame them since history strongly suggests that Germans can get into quite a bit of trouble when they start to push boundaries
Jimmer, just post a link to the 60-130 times and the debate over verification. If they have the patience to read the thread they will see that many many people (like me) have gotten runs rejected dispite vituperative winey and protestations.
And as far as the ability to run long and hard, I did about 15 roll ons in a row for 30 minutes straight the other day.

Man Sean, you just really set yourself up for Tweety with that long and hard comment...
Thanks for the feedback fellas, but there's just no getting through to them. Not a big deal, but they're like the German tuner mafia over there. Whenever someone wants to go outside their world and try a US tuner, they get the **** kicked out of them for it. I guess that country will just remain beyond help (one of the reasons I left!).

Scott, just to settle some confusion, when you had the 18 g/k24 setup is when you had stock rods , when you went with the motor build and bigger turbos,Todd said, you had the rods and and everything else changed correct? before some people think you can run 1.9 bar on a stock bottom end.lol.
I am almost sure that Scott wrote down he had stock rods, pistons and crankshaft until he sold the car...It is written somewhere in this tread...so that tells us that stock rods are very strong and do not fail with proper tuning and fuel, even at these extreme levels...
well according to Todd Knighton , who built his motor he didnt , he ony had stock rods when he had teh 18g/k24 setup , when he did the Gt30's todd built the bottom end. as the stock rods are strong , for the boost , power and mostly torque there not that strong. torque is what ussualy bends rods .
"When it was k24/18g it was. That's back when he had run his
10.6@136mph runs with our intake system, etc. Then, we did a full build
when it went to gt3076r's."
Todd.
there you have it.

When I bought my tt, I was convinced that the only possible way to mod it was the "german way" (Ruf, 9FF, Sportech etc..), and that unless I had another 40K€ to spend I could not tune my car over 500hp.
Then, after searching and searching, while roaming on Youtube, I saw Markski's and VrAlexander's TTs

, and began the "discovery of the USA tuners".Then I had a contact with Todd at Protomotive....and I could not believe the prices and the amount of options he gave me, compared to what I knew was the "european standard"...
Then I discovered 6speed, and with it, all the tuners, vendors etc...And I was (and I am) happy like a child knowing that I have so many ways and so many choices...
I think (and hope) that in a few months (if people here will finally decide that I have to be paid for my work..
) I will be able to pull the trigger on a 18g kit from Protomotive, and my friends will finally SHUT UP.Currently I feel like a fish out of water....trying to explain them that RUF and 9FF are not the only good tuners in the universe...
Guys, you really are one big step ahead...and it really seems that I was born in the wrong side of the earth...
KUDOS TO YOU ALL USA TUNERS!!!!

you are not the only one. I have heard from a reliable source that Euro Tuners are Bashing American tuners so that they don't loose all the business. It doesn't work.
Anyone who spends $22k on a set of SECAN IC's for a street car is an Idiot or has to much money or both. But they will push this crap on you all the time. don't believe it.

I believe you...I know personally that (at least here in Italy) there is a lot of distrust in USA tuners. People always say that their power claims are "fake", and that you can't achieve high power without spending a lot of money.
I go mad when I realize that 99% of people here think that if you don't spend crazy money with an euro tuner you are making some sort of sacrilege...
It really looks like a lot of people here need to open their eyes....and try to see a bit further than their nose...
Personally I have BIG respect for the US tuners, and honestly believe that the work, R&D, creativity, passion they have cannot be matched...
I tried to talk about hibrid turbos (18gs, billet, zero clearance etc...) on a local forum....I felt like satan in a group of cherubs.....Sacrilege!!
I really think that we need to open our minds...and be able to admit that someone else worked harder and better, and achieved better results...

Europeans can hate on the US as much as they want, but that doesn't change the fact that the Euro tuned cars can't keep up.

The simple fact is that US tuners currently own all of the world's Porsche acceleration records:
60-130
100 km/h to 200 km/h
1/4 mile
0-186 k/mh
Standing mile

Facts cannot be "argued"...
you should get one of the setups from the US and go and spank then all day and let them figure it out for them selves
I only need to solve some "customs office" issues with import from US.
I can't wait to see the faces of some non-believer TT owners when I will blow their doors off with my "cheap" Protomotive setup....The smile on my face will be veeery big...
