test drove TT clicking clutch?

test drove a 2002 turbo with 28k yesterday. The clutch had a clicking sound to it, is that normal. also the tranny felt loose. To be honest I thought the car would have felt more refined, it reminded me of an 1989 turbo not a 2002. is this normal...???

Im in the hunt for a car

The clutch sounds like a blinker clicking when i depress it and yes its normal. As for the tranny, mine also felt sloppy and the shifter made noise while shifting. Turns out a piece in my shift linkage (I think a bushing) is broken so i purchased a short shift kit to fix the problem (its a common upgrade and people seem to love the feel afterwards).

I don't believe that the clicking sound is normal. My '02 does not make this noise.

I also had this clicking sound in my 01' Turbo and now also in my 02' GT2. Only in first gear and I only hear it if my window is down.

I have it in my '03 and was told by the shop that it is normal. You can hear mine but it is not as loud as a blinker signal.

No, not as loud as a blinker signal but the identical noise. It makes it about 1 inch off the mat when pressed. A 01 c4 I drove had the same noise as well.

I have the same click noise, not very loud. I think there is a safety-neutral switch that won't let you start the car unless the clutch is pressed to the floor. I would guess it is that switch being operated that makes the click noise.
The shifter, however, should not be loose at all.

This is indeed correct. It is just a sensor that allows you to start the car.

at 28K miles it will be soon in for a new clutch.... depending on how hard the previous owner drove. usually they go after 35K if driver hard. I had 2 aftermarkets so far. the clicking is usually when u have a after market clutch.. I think its the throw out bearing... normal.
