I just got an e-mail from my tech saying the following:
"Your car is AWESOME, the suspension is just what the 996tt needs. The hieght is perfect the ride is superb and the handling is as it should be on a car like this. One small nuisance is the rear sway bar. It hits the frame crossmember when the vehicle extends. Not a big deal but makes a ****ty noise as a result. Contact supplier and see what you can find out. I'm assuming it is just made wrong because there is no way to correct this (clearance is less than 1mm!) I don't want to bend any thing until you talk to them. Call me at home this eve. if you get this or 1st thing in the morning at the shop. Car is al set otherwise and it takes only about 10 minutes to swap the sway bar out. Minor dissappointment is all, otherwise all went well."
Anyone else have a problem with rear sway??

 

Any follow-up to this, as I was just about to get me some H&R sways too. msindi, can you report back on this? Did you get it fixed or is it no big thing? Anyone else?

 

H&R is re-designing their sways as we speak...I got mine from AWE tuning (board sponsor - contact Mike there) and so as soon as they are available Mike said he will ship me a new one and will pay for shipping my old one back...That is service at its best!

 

I had the H&Rs as well but Stephen and Kevin swapped it out for the GT3s... The H&Rs were much thicker but much heaver also and yes made all kinds of strange noises....

 

Any idea what the timeframe is on the new redesigned version?

 

again, not too sure but probably calling Mike will be your best bet...I think end of this month

 

I was told March, now it has been moved to April. We will see what happens next month.

This whole deal is completely embarrassing. When I was in Germany in December I saw the new bars at H&R. However, I can't get an answer as to why I don't have them yet.

Here's an FYI. The reason that the bars make noise on some cars and not others is because during the production run the rear cross member was changed. The bars were designed for only one
style, but not other.

Once this was discovered, the bar was designed to work with both cross members.
