5K for the heads. 3K for the crank, 5K for the rods and pistons, alot more misc. work needs to be done. I say $25K
rods are around 1800 to 2300 bucks. pistons depends on what u go with. it can be even more. KPG has a nice set up but he is on stock pistons.

No idea what pistons cost since we are just ceramic coating the crowns and Moly coating the skirts. Our rods are custom for the GT3R crank...not cheap. This engine build comes down to an individual setting their power goals and finding a tuner they are comfortable with. There are different philosophies from different tuners. Protomotive runs very high RPMs on stock cranks with no oiling mods. We chose to do serious mods to the case and and add a GT3R crank for high rpm safety. We are not Oringing our heads , yet Proto chooses to do that mod to their high HP cars. I wouldnt run those rpms on a stock crank and they wouldnt run their cars without orings... different philosophies, nothing more , nothing less. As for price... way too many options to give a price. We shufflepinned our cases, drilled the center mains for more oiling, modified the thrust bearings for oiling, bowtailed the case,Porsche Motorsports bearings, balanced everything that spins to within .2 grams, etc...it can and will add up. Good luck. KevinOriginally Posted by dgussin1

I think that is pretty conservative.. Hell gaskets are more than $5k on my recent estimateand labor will skyrocket to close $10k easy!Originally Posted by MARKSKI

Well you have the porsche TAX. This is not a Ford mustang
$25k is way under par for a full out race motor. Hell I was just looking in to this since I had a recent need. If you are looking for bang for the buck stay where you are
Cobra's are king for that.Quote:

Ralph, I paid about 1300 for the total gasket and seal kit for my rebuild. KevinOriginally Posted by cpu77

it's not about bang for the buck. I was just merely curious. Being 22, I am probably 7-10 years away from owning a 998TT-999TT, but am just looking in to the details now.Originally Posted by cpu77

A mustang will never be a porsche. Sure, it might beat one, but it will never be one.
