Rear spoiler question... again

Alright guys, I have searched the forum regarding this topic a number of times. Either I'm terrible at searching, or I'm not finding the exact particulars of what I'm looking for. I have a Techart spoiler on my 911TT. (I think its a techart, previous owner). Anyways, the thing no longer goes up any more and I get the dreaded "rear spoiler failure" message.

Question...! Is there an easy way of checking to see whats wrong with the problem, seeing if its an easy fix (I'm not too handy in the mechanical department, but I'm willing). Porsche, over the phone, said it is the hydraulics and that it will run me in the neighborhood of $2,500.

Personally, I don't care if it goes up or down to much. It would be nice if it did. But if I can't, can I just get it to stay up without blowing a bank account and replacing the hydraulics? Any ideas... cause I miss having that spoiler in its up position. I know most owners don't like it that way, but I do and would love to find a way of doing it.

Bojan

I have a decklid off my 2001 996TT, it it seal gray, I am selling it for $1,000.00 + shipping.

You can steal the hydraulics off of it if everything else fails, Alot cheaper than $2,500.00 = )

I removed my wing motor and hydraulics and had the ECU flashed to remove the error message. Wing is now always in the down position. Less weight and less problems.

I just posted about this topic the other day. Do you think the techart spoiler was to blame, or just old faulty hydraulics?

The stock wing motor is junk. I have no doubt that the extra weight from your aftermarket wing contributed to the problem.

Why not get a GT2 Fix wing?????? It looks better and you will not get this problem in the future. I believe it will cost about the same.

I'm thinking about ditching the haydraulics, and I'm not even having problems. Use the money to get a cool looking fixed wing. You can always pick up some cheap used hydraulics down the road. I say GT2 Carbon Fiber

I had a similar problem, fortunately still under warranty. both hyd motors were shot as well as some other issues i don't remember. Barrier Porsche fixed it no problem. If I had to pay out of pocket, i would also favor switching to a fixed GT2 wing. I think its the best looking and its functional. good luck. MAXRPM in Bremerton can hook you up if you don't have a source. Are you in Seattle? PM me if you need phone numbers or want a second opinion before taking the car in to the dealer.
