Yet another new guy

I'm old. The last turbo I bought new was in 1987. I just told my wife that for my mid life crisis she had a choice: either I was going to have an affair w/ my secretary or I was getting a TT. She wisely asked what color car I was getting!

I have already gotten so much information here reading old posts it is unbelievable. Thanks in advanve for all the help.

I am in the market for probably an 02 or 03 car, preferably black on black. Gotta be 6spd and preferably X-50. Miles aren't a huge factor as I will most likely mod it and it will replace the land yacht [745Li] as my DD. If anyone hears about one in the Southeast please let me know!

On another note, if anyone is interested in the RS at Hendrick in Hickory, NC let me know. I know those guys and can find out any details and take some pics for someone. If anyone decides to fly in and look at it there's an open invitation for a ride to and from the airport, a warm bed and a hot meal for an overnight stay. Here's the link....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...QQcmdZViewItem

I own a fee based financial planning firm for doctors, so please don't get the wrong idea and think I'm a shill for Hendrick!! just trying to say hi and help a little....

Thanks again guys, I'm looking forward to learning a whole, whole lot about my next car!!!!

That's good! The secretary could be the twin sister of Keira Knightley, but the wife is exponentially HOTTER! [whoever said money can't help one marry up and younger was obviously shopping at the wrong store!]

....first question.... should I try and hold out for the x-50 or would it make as much sense to just buy a non x50 car and do the mods myself? Financially, what would the price difference net out to be just to bring a standard TT up to the x50 level w/ the turbos, etc.?

9Eleven, sorry... just think how much more wisdom we have compared to the young hotshots!

If your going to mod the car anyways you can save a few bucks going with the non-X50. The only difference is the turbos and intercoolers, both of which you can replace for cheap. Just all depends on what kind of aftermarket setup interests you.

By the way, why not an 01'? Lightest of them all and no difference from the 02'+ besides glovebox.

Westwood is infamous around these parts
I wonder about that "old" crack too? I agree with DGreen about the X50. Might as well use the money towards your mods is the better alternative.

Early 01's didn't have hollow spoke wheels. If you are going to change turbo's buy non X50.

Arrow Money Guy, Welcome and smart choice!

Welcome to the fun house,

TT's are alot of fun to own, drive and mod.
If you were tending to keep car mechanically stock then I
would buy an X-50 and "get and ECU tune", if you are a modaholic
(like me) you should just buy a shell from a parts dismantler and start from
there...

I have a modded x50 and am not sure if the X50 or any of the mods really add much to the sale price if I were selling her. If I was in the market again, i'd probably look for a clean TT that has already been modded. If you could find one from the guys on 6speed that would be a bonus!
