Math help...

Trying to estimate the 60-130 time for a Veyron.

Tests show that it travels from 62.1 mph - 124.2 mph (100 to 200 kph) in 4.8 seconds....so based off of that, I figure its 60-130 time would be 5.76 seconds (assuming .07729 seconds per mph).

Anyone get anything different? Thanks.

P.S. - I realize that this is only an estimate.

Too many assumptions (e.g., linear model) and of course no estimate of variation. But of course any number is an estimate...just not necessarily a good one.

I already know I can. I'm just trying to see where it would fall out it our 60-130 list.

I come up with around 5.4 using your linear analysis, and adding 8 more mph, at your .07729 seconds per mph. Assuming that's about an extra 6/10ths, and the reported number was 4.8. So not sure how you got to 5.76. But then again, doing this in my head . . .

0-100km/h = 2.5s
100-200 km/h = 4.8
so, 0-124 mph = 7.3

1/4 mile = 10.2 @ 142,
so 124-142 = 2.9 (which may include a gear change)
124-130 = 1/3 of that, so assume linearity between those speeds, and we get ~0.95 seconds

4.8 + 0.95 = about 5.7 I'd guess a little lower, because of the gear change issue, and the non-linearity, so about 5.5 - 5.6 seconds.

I plugged in the points into an excel sheet. The resulting graph most closely resembled a polynomial. I made a best fit curve with a resulting quadratic equation. After plugging the numbers in, the approximate 60-130 time was 5.16 seconds. But actual times could be slower.

Justin,

Thanks. This info might help you with the calcs:

During the same run, my car went 62-124 in 4.23 seconds..and it's 60-130 was 4.9.

The Veyron went 62-124 in 4.8 seconds.

Using the above info...I think 5.4 to 5.6 60-130 for the Veyron would be a very close guess.

Thanks.

dgussin1 is infamous around these parts
keep in mind the veyron has a gear shift from 3rd to 4th at 126 mph, thus slowing down it's 60-130 substantially.

I feel if you were to run in to one on the street, you'd have one heck of a time winning.

I would estimate it's 60-130 at 5.6 seconds based on r&t running 60-120 in 4.7 seconds and the car gaining from 100-110 and 110-120 in .9 seconds.

Well, I have two gear shifts between 60 and 130. From 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th. I wish I only had one like the Veyron. Must be nice...

I don't think I'd put bus lengths on one..but I'm confident I'd beat one by a significant margin from a roll.

Agree. 5.6 sounds about right.
