Hi all, first post.

I have been noticing an engine noise from 2200-2400rpm.

Doesnt matter what gear or speed. Just that rpm range.

Difficult to desribe the sound. It is kind of like the sound of airflow being disrupted or leaking air or a high freq. rattle. Not very loud but noticeable with the radio off. I am not sure that I had this sound before the new DV's but dont know enough to know if they could be the culprit.

Any ideas?

 

I have a similar noise at 1800rpms... does the noise only appear after the car has been driven a bit? I don't hear the sound right away until the car has been driven for 5-10 minutes. Does it happen if you rev the engine while in neutral?

 

It happens right away and can be heard in neutral but not quite as noticeable. Car performs normally. I thought this would have gotten some replies as a common occurence, guess not, I will have it looked into during next service.

 

When I had my Turbo I had a similair problem. After the car warmed up and driven in the same gear a lot (mostly 2 and 3) in traffic situations, the car would make a kind of rattle sound at around 2k. I took it into the dealer when my service came up and asked them to look into it. They said it was the oil reservoir and they replaced it under warrenty. After that I never experienced the sound again.
