Dock was right on.

Last night I installed (well some of my friends installed while I watched ) the Evo ShiftLink and B&M Short Shifter.

So far it is perfect! Short, precise throws with a very positive engagement in each gear. Feels like a sports car shifter is supposed to feel, not like the VW Beetle shifter they ship with the car.

I was concerned about all of the comments about the extra effort required when shifting with this kit. There is no doubt that this is true but nothing more than the fact that you've lost some of the leverage advantage you had before. The extra effort is truely minimal and it's very reassuring to feel the solid 'thunk' of going into gear. Dock described it perfectly when saying it felt like a rifle bolt. It's surprising that a cable shifted transmission can feel so 'connected'

I can't believe I didn't install this in my 99 996 cab which I had for 5 years and tracked frequently

Thanks to all who have posted here with your comments. Without them I would never have made the change.

Bart
