Can rock chips and swirl marks be easily repaired?

Was looking at this local car...

http://www.hightechmotors.com/site/c...sp?sn=51516058

and in Image 8 you can actually zoom in using their high def viewer. To me, it looks a little rough...not sure if this is to be expected of an '03 with 30k miles. I am wondering if this sort of damage can be repaired and then a clear bra added.

Looks decent enough to me. Swirl marks are easily fixed by any competent detailer. I don't see to many rock chips (any actually, but i could be blind). Worst case i guess respray the hood?

Did you click on image 8, then click again on the hood....it will subsequenty continue to zoom in to show the details. You can see dozens of rock chips. Not sure how much a respray costs...but that may be an option too.

All relatively easy to fix especially black...easy to match...No problemo! Funny...paint is there to protect the metal/polyurethane...so clear bra is protecting the protection...

There are tons of rock chips if you zoom up close enough. I had a Ventureshield (like 3M clear bra) installed and the chips will show as they are indentations in the paint. The clear bra will not adhere to those small divots and they are a potential source for bubbles. Basically, this car has a lot of driving on highway or on the track without protection. The best would be a new coat of paint followed by clear bra. I am not sure you can buff away all those rock chips.

Some good points here...I didnt think about track time. Seems like a lot of chips for 30k miles. I think this car was a lease so the guy probably didnt care. Thats one thing about buying from a wholesaler that makes me wearing since I have no idea about the history of the car. It seems you either leave it alone or new paint + bra.

Hozer,

There is a detailer out in Texas that's absolutely amazing at what he does his name is Anthony Orosco.

If anyone can fix it he can, he's done a ton of Porsches.

Drop him a line.
