Angry Dealer work gone bad for boost

Took my 04 996tt in for warranty work. New alternator, new radio w/ nav and new stereo amplifier. Heres the problem- Car had boost levels of 1.1-1.2 consistantly before dealer visit. Now my car does .5-.7!! The car seem so much slower!! Do you think they reflashed my computer for any reason? Car had or has evo flash..

Sure sounds like it. I would think that EVO and I'm assuming GIAC know that you paid for a flash by you VIN and will do the right thing by you.

Yeah, probably had to reset it (per factory instructions). Just flash it back.

I would contact whoever done your flash (they should redo) would not contact dealer, back here in UK, they can be funny sometimes regarding tuning etc, I would more than likely get an invoice for the work done as my flash would void the warranty, some dealers are like that, look for any excuse!

If it was flashed no problem. Any GIAC dealer can do this for you.

Yeah Stevo, no kidding. I asked my dealer for a quote to install the clutch kit I got from Imagine (thanks Stephen!), and they quoted me 1,200 GBP and said that the engine absolutely had to be removed (10hrs). To add insult to injury, they asked me why would I want this kind of clutch and that they would void my warranty if it were installed. Dealers here are a joke.

Now I'm nervous to even take it to them for the 30k service - for which I was quoted an additional 1,200 GBP. Not only will they probably yank my warranty, but I'm afraid of them reflashing me to the stock program. Is this SOP for a dealer, to automatically reflash incoming cars? How can I ask them specifically not to without arousing suspicion?

I use an indy....just to avoid this.

Sometimes being off warranty is a good thing. I have a third party warranty that covers anything bumper to bumper including the radio/nav....got it from my selling dealer (used car) for 2400$. Except the clutch.... :-)

My 30k service will be about 500$....1200 pounds seems like a lot of money....any options in the UK to use indy's?

Ok! main dealers here are bellends for sure, anytime I use them which is very rare now, I find myself telling them what/how to do things! I only use them for a stamp in the book.

Seriously, I would now seek an independant and get them to do your service, it is becoming more and more common as the main dealer will charge a fortune and since you have the modding bug, it will eventually get beyond the point that your mods will void warranty, it's always good that an independant takes a little more care, effort and knows what's going on with your motor each time you return for work to be undertaken.

I do all my own work now and I bet I could do a plug change quicker than the dealer!

Don't worry about your flash, they will not reflash it unless they found issues going on that they think could be ECU connected. What flash have you got? Is it Revo or DMS?
