Exhaust Comparison

Im faily new here, and have been searching for the best exhaust option for me. After searchig and reading posts, it seems everyone has a different take on it. Ive read for a few hours, and I still dont have the info i wanted.

I thought Id start a thread so people can post their opinions on one place so next time a newb searches (like me) it willmake for easier reading.

Please post what you have and give info such as, cost, drone(y/n), HP increase, and satisfied with sound (y/n)

Thanks for posting!

I've got the 9ff variotune sport. it has a switch in the car that lets you go from quiet to loud. Around $6-7k if bought new. Approx 25hp gain.. no drone, love the sound.

btw, the best way to decide is to ride in cars with different exhaust setups. sound is very subjective thing

What he said! Some people seem to think that, if you can clearly hear the engine as you cruise down the freeway, that's "drone". Others will say that drone is only when you have to talk VERY LOUDLY to be heard while crusing down the freeway.

Some like a deep bass exhaust note, others want to get as close as they can to the wail of a Ferarri at 8500.

My particular problem is a preference for the sound of very large displacement V8s, especially the 632 cu in and up "mountain motors" found (AFAIK) only in drag racing. Sure can't get there with a turbo'd boxer 6!

I think some of the exhaust clips I've heard online, even on exhaust manufacturer's web sites, make our cars sound like a farm tractor.

I have the Europipe Stage 2 Quiet...about $5000...sound is very subjective, I think they all (including stock) seem a bit louder under load between 2000 and 3000 rpm and then sound "nice aggressive" louder above that. Boost comes on faster at lower rpms...who knows about Hp. For me it was more about driveability and lower rpm torque. Check out web site:

http://www.europipe.be/1024.html

They are easy to work with, very good communication, etc. Yes I'm happy with my choice.

I have the europipe stage 1 quiet. It really is quiet at cruising speeds. You can still hold a conversation, talk on cell phone if needed without any extra effort. During WOT you get a nice ROAR which is a definate improvement from stock. I highly recommend it if you want something that wont drive the wifey nuts.
