Verifying an X-50

Ran a search but didn't see anything.

I'm on the search for a tt and would prefer an X-50. Other than the certificate of authenticity and the options sticker under the trunk lid, is there an easy way to verify and x-50 really is an x-50? Thanks.

Minor vent/sidenote. I continue to be impressed by the cars and the fair prices they are offered at on the this site. I continue to be surprised at the prices proposed on Rennlist and in Panorama. Panorama has some nice listings sometimes but it seems like they are consistently >$5-10K over market. I don't get it.

The hood option tag is one place to look. The intercoolers have fins that extend out of the core unlike stock that are flush with the unit.Reach your hand up there and you can feel them. The turbos will be K24's.

A Porsche dealer can run the VIN and see the original options on the build ticket.

having done mine now,if I were to do it again (definitely) would do a 2005 X-50 or Turbo-S car given that Posche only sent 186 Turbo's to America that year in the coupe format. for the extra $15K you'll have a car that probably appreciates eventually. get the original window sticker with the car. a serious Porsche nut will keep it. it will really add to resale to hae 110% of original books and records if you and ourcar ever part company.

Great suggestions already listed. I strongly urge you to have a quality [$$$] PPI done. At this price point and with the complexity of these cars [$$$] you want to be certain of condition as well as specification. It will be easy to get the specs verified in the course of a PPI. The only other bit I would suggest is to be patient and find a car with the color and options that you LOVE so you end up with a car you want to keep. I also believe the prices will further soften now that the fallout from the soft real estate market is finally beginning to make itself felt in other market segments. [How much? How soon? How long before they bounce back? Will they?? Don't we all wish we knew!] Just don't be in a big rush.
Good hunting

Boulder GT3.

Here are a list of dealerships that have Porsche Certified Turbo coupes in stock with the X50 package

2004 models
Princeton Porsche in New Jersey
Gaudin Jaguar Porsche in Nevada

2003 models
Hoen Motors in California
Prestige Imports in Colorado
Motor Werks of Barrington Ltd. in New Jersey
Cherry Hill Imports Inc in New York
South Short Porsche in Pennsylvania
Auto Palace Porsche in Washington

2002 models
Porsche of North Scottsdale in Arizona
Prestige Imports in Colorado
Jim Ellis Atlanta Inc in Georgia

I work for Porsche and sometimes our systems are not totally up to date but this is what it has as of this morning (Sunday). All I have is the original MSRP of the cars and do not have the current miles or the condition of the car. PM me if you have any questions.

OC-
That is GREAT info- I am looking for one hot and heavy right now. Unfortunately though, none of the three who have 02's show them in inventory on line. I guess you can't tell if they just put them in the system or if the info might be outdated, can you?

AGAIN... buya dealeer ca, get the warranty, and buy a 2005 X50/S car and you'll not have at worry at all. The 2002's had"head perosity" issues with a few of their cars, so doing 2003 ad newer will be better frSURE. 2005 is best, obviously.

From what our system says there are no 2005 Certified Turbo Coupes. If they are not certified they will not show on my system.

The cars that I pulled up were on our system are sometimes it is our of date... sorry if it is...

Thanks for the generous offer. I may take you up on it.

I'm still bouncing a bit on going with a 997tt or getting a 996tt and doing some mods.

I ran into to forum member that has a 996tt I'm pretty smitten with so I"m leaning that way. Thanks again for all of the input.
