Setting up a race with video
Ace,
I beg to differ. When you start to get to really high hp levels, roll on racing takes skill and *****.
For example, if I am up against, say a 750 whp Supra, I still can beat him or match him w/ my 650 hp GT2. I have been in this scenario and ran such a car 2, 2 and 1 tie.
For starters, I had to be patient...he was cruising at 80, trying to draw me into the meat of his powerband (5plus K RPM)....I held back, not biting at the temptation to get drawn into his game. I finally got him down to 60, the meat of my powerband and he was at around 4 K...thus I got 3/4 of a lentgh by the timw we were at 100....we were dead even at 160 when we shut down due to traffic.
If he got the jump I could not catch him, but if I got just one length his 100 extra ponies could not quite make it up.
Also, there are tracking issues, shifting to maximize speed, etc, one mistake in any of these areas will lose the race, or worse.
May I ask about your kill list?

I think that one of the reasons that our cars do so well in roll-ons is because of the way that the power comes on early and stays on. The other cars may make 100rwhp more than us, but that's only at their peak which may last only a couple of hundred RPMs, where our power stays high througout the rev range, not to mention our gearing advantage. The GT2s in particular are lighter. I love these cars!
How's everybody doin? This is some good reading! Sorry I have been gone for so long...not that anyone missed me. I've been a little strung out with withdrawals and D/T's after selling the GT2...business must come first so that I can have more of these toys in the future.
Speaking of toys, I am building a 934 replica out of a 1986 911 Turbo and it is going to "Kick the Living **** out of any car on this forum"! I know it hasn't been tested, but check out the stats: Stripped to bare tub and acid dipped, seam welded and caged, powder-coated, 2200-2400lbs., 700+RWHP Individual Throttle Bodied 3.4 with a GT4094R spinning to 8600RPM, close ratio 930 4-speed, 934 body with 11" front & 14" rear flares housing CCW 18x10 & 18x13 wheels, Moton coilovers, ERP, Smart Racing Products, etc.
Entire car will be finished in 2007 GT3 RS green! (powder coated interior and undercarriage, wet paint exterior)
I don't have any numbers yet, but it will definitely be quicker, faster, and better handling than RobMD's car!
Oh, and by the way, it's not being built by anyone you guys know.

That sounds like a sick *** project. Please start a thread about the progress somewhere here on 6speed!!!!
Good to see you back!
My only thing to throw in is to Sean's example. It all depends on the cars weight, power curve, gearing, etc. when it comes to winning a race and being able to give the person a jump and come back by them.
Rob,
When will you learn??????
First, I concur with those that have urged you to sit back, relax and wait until your car is finished and running before proclaiming it the fastest 996TT on the planet. As others have observed, follow the examples set by Mark, Scott and your tuner, Todd K. I am confident that, when all is said and done, you will have a very fast car. Given the larger displacement and larger turbos, it certainly should be faster than a GT800 (anything less would be terribly disappointing). That being said, wait until everything is said and done before bolstering about what has yet to occur.
Second, your obsessive compulsive hatred of EVOMS, coupled with your relentless jabs at EVOMS and its customers (me included), is tiresome, borderline irrational and pathological, and undermines your credibility. All EVOMS did was run a 9 second pass and refuse to build your car. Get over it.
Third, your relentless comparisons of EVOMS to Protomotive, always in conjunction with passive-agressive pejorative comments directed at EVOMS and its customers, are equally tiresome and irrational. Stop obsessing about EVOMS and focus on your car. Let your car stand on its own and speak for itself, without regard to what EVOMS has done with its cars. Stop making your project about beating EVOMS and, instead, make it about building a fast car in and of itself.
Fourth, a private race, even if videotaped, proves nothing!!! I personally know of at least one situation where two friends set-up a videotaped race where one of the two cars let off just a bit, so as to produce an inaccurate and misleading result. In other words, the two participants can agree that one of the cars will not go all out, so as to make the other car appear faster than it actually is. The resulting videotape depicts a false outcome. I am not suggesting that you would attempt such a fraud. Nevertheless, the possibility exists, thereby undermining the credibility of a private videotaped race.
Fifth, the recent sale of my car is completely irrelevant to your car, and your focus on me and my car is nonsensical. All I ever did was point out your prior false and misleading claims. Get over it and please leave me out of your relentless bolstering about your car. BTW, as to the "GT950" tag underneath my avatar, I long ago tried endlessly to have that removed, but to no avail. I e-mail several mods, but none except Shank are able to remove it and he was non-responsive to my requests.
Good luck with your project Rob.
Regards,
Craig
Ps: Please do not continue this exchange and force me to waste more time responding.
Pss: Please tell Todd K. "your welcome" (for the coffee I sent him when I was in Hawaii).
