Pop-out Cupholder Broke
Hey guys. I took my car to a detail place and the cupholder was broken when I got it back. They're cool guys and I'm sure it was an accident.
I put the thing back together, but it's just not quite right. The front bar doesn't seem to slide all the way in when I close the cupholder. That thing is actually engineered with gears and stuff...
Anyhoo anyone have one I can buy off you?

Peronally I hate this cup holder, it's location sucks..high c.g. and it's plastic & fragile. LA Porsche Dismantlers 1.818.767.7243 just stripped a 02 Turbo...they will have it cheep. Good Luck

I hate to bring back a thread this old but I cant PM. Ari, did you replace the cupholder? If so, do I need to remove the horseshoe trim or does the darned cupholder just pull out?

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm looking for a broken 996 thin/swing type cup holder. I just need the plastic trim piece (with the cup graphic on it) to use as a filler on a 996 iPad mini install.

Still working on this...
The cupholder is just a bit too fat to slide back in all the way from the rear. If I take off the plastic trim, I can put it in from the front no problem, but since those cupholders are kind of pricey, I hate to take apart a perfectly good one. I'm sure it's full of springs and gears that will go all over the place as soon as I try!
By the way, that cupholder might be the most ridiculously over-engineered silly gadget porsche has ever come up with. The thing is heavy, complex, and even if I did want to drive my 911 around with a cup of steaming hot coffee, I sure as hell wouldn't want it suspended way up there
