Does anybody know the part number or where other than Porsche I could find the metal clip that you plug the fuses into?

I'm hard wiring in a radar detector and few other bits to the fuse box in one of the empty slots. I'd like to snag a few of those clips and use stock type fuses (of the appropriate rating) in the normal fuse box instead of those junker round inline fuse holders most electronics come with.

The heated seat socket is hot, ignition switched and looks like it should supply 25amps were the other half wiring harness going to the non-existent heated seats there. 5 amp fuse for the detector and FM transmitter Ipod adapter should be fine.



Found a parts diagram, but can't figure out which one is the piece I need. Anybody know which one it is out of http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLoo...-00-Frame3.htm, or might it be something out of the wiring harness catalog?

Old thread but I think your were going about this the right way. Did you ever get it figured out? I am about to tackle the same thing.

 

Never did figure it out & no longer have a Porsche, although I hope to remedy that at some point.

 

I just take apart a old fuse and solder a wire to it. But make sure you have a in-line fuse you would hate to smoke test the electrical system

this a contact socket for a connector. I don't know who provided the connectors for the 996 I just got mine, BMW used AMP, Molex, and Dutsch.

The second type is pretty cheesy, but works.

 

I like the first one much better then ones that I could make.
I also have used the 2nd one but they were for the older tube type fuses.

 

I have used the fuse taps too and they work well but I think the OP (as well as I) wanted to bring alive a blank, unused fuse spot. I have found the inventory log of the main fuse block on Renntech but have not had the time yet to check the data vs my car.

Waytek is good for odd stuff but you can get all of those things at the local auto parts store.

Since I am only planning to add the radar detector for now I will probably just use a fuse tap. On my truck I add an aux 7 circuit fuse box (made by Painless Performance) because I have so many accessories.

 

For those of you using a fuse tap or an add-a-circuit, where are you terminating the ground wire?

In my truck there are several great grounding screws, but this car is so small it is a pain in the a$$ to even wedge my head under the dash. Knowing where to look in advance would be great. My back will thank you.
