Well, my guy finally got the AOS done. What a PITA. Being a TIP, he dropped the tranny. As soon as that was out, it didn't take too long. The only additional thing that was done was rerouting the wires. The cam sensor wires are right below the AOS. I've been getting the p1531 code on and off for 2-3 weeks. The coolant and oil from the AOS was dripping on the wires triggering P1531 in my case. Check the RMS also.

Thanks for all the info. I am about to replace mine on a 2000 C2 manual. I am going to drop the transmission and do it from there, it seems much easier than from above. I will also do a clutch job. I have a LN IMS so I am not touching that.

My question is: how much coolant fluid comes out of the lines when you disconnect them? Since I'll be under the car should I be prepared to get soaked?

As long as you're prepared to poke something in the end quick or kink the line with a zip tie or something it shouldn't be too bad. Just don't forget to undo it before you put it back together!
