For people with V1's
After much thought and debate I decided "not" to turn off X band even though I get a ton of fale alarms here in the So. Cal South Bay, Redondo Beach. My feeling on this is that I'd rather hit the mute button and be made aware that there is radar transmission in the area than just turn it off and have no info. I do religiously use the "L" filter, Full Logic when in the city to reduce the false alerts.
I know exactly where the false alarms are in my area so I tend to ingore them and just press the mute but I generally look at the display to determine if there are more than one boggie.
All in all this radar detector has saved my hide several times. I'd say leave it on and use the "L" filter.
Just my $.02
Good luck......

Thanks everyone.
I also run my V1 in advanced lodgic mode (L). I get very few falses now and local police do not use the x band anymore here in Mass.
The V1 laser signal is set off by the new LED brake lights on GM trucks and other cars (BMW Z8). It is very annoying when you get stuck behind one in traffic as the V1 alert goes nuts. Hope this helps clear the false laser singal up for you.
