I can't say that I have ever heard a wild boar before to know what that sounds like. However, could it possibly be your exhaust? A leak? Things quiet down once the valves open after initial start up. (I think that is right)

A few things to ensure... AC is off, so to rule out the compressor being the culprit of such a sound. You have checked your oil level? I'm just throwing out ideas.

I'm with Robyn...What the hell does a wild boar sound like? Please be a little more descriptive. Is it a howl? A grunt? Whine?

sounds like a bad tappet that is a somewhat known issue, not pumping up etc.

Unhappy i think i have the same noise

happens on cold startups, car screaches like a boar for like half a second, it's kinda embarassing. I haven't figured it out, but it sounds like a belt slips loose and the gears spinning too fast

OR

it also sounds like maybe the bearings somewear are loose and/or worn, but immediately smooth out after a second or so. For example, back when you were a kid if you ever had a big toy car, and you spun the wheels with your hand, it would spin normally, but if you spin it too fast, it would make a loud noise, cause vibration, and slow down

anyways, let me know if you figure it out, so i can get it fixed too

is it a tapping sound that goes away or if it's the screach then it could be the belt. I had to replace mine as it shredded aka broke at 30k.

check your flywheel...it might have some damaged teeth....that will make the starter slip and make a loud noise .

Had a similar problem it was the fan. It would make a intermittent squealing sound. Took a couple of hours to fix.
