Look at the thickiness of the key, I doubt it could be bent. Probably a problem with the tumbler mechanism and the ignition switch. The switches are known to go bad fairly often. You can find them on Ebay for $20 or so. Good luck

My key would jam every now and then. I replaced the switch in the back, and it's as good as new. Here's a couple of links to the DIY:

I got my switch on eBay for ~$20

mine got stuck, dealer knew right away what it was over the phone (common problem). a plastic piece inside the ignition switch breaks. cost of fix was $550 (covered under cpo warranty). the service manager told me to force the key into the start postition (hard to do), then back it off to the run position (so the starter doesn't keep running) to get it moving. it worked. i have an 02 carrera.

same exact failure... but I can still wiggle the key out... replace the ignition switch behind the dash... you will need a set of small jewelry/electronics screw driver from radio shack.

Would have to check with your parts department there is a year break on if you need more then just the switch, you may need the whole cylinder with the column lock, (looks like an aluminum gun) then you would have to swap the key cylinder into the new unit, if you can get just the switch it is held in with two set screws covered in red tamper paint, just scratch the paint away and back the screws out.

You may need a new ignition switch. You might be able to still operate car/wipers/radio if you giggle wheel and manually click back the key to the left one notch after ignition. That's how I'm getting around now. I'm about to install my 3rd replacement switch. Part is shared with Audi and avail from those dealers. Part no. 4A0905849B, around $45. There is a DIY on Renntech which requires Porsche tool, or one that others have designed that works. Porsche dealer may or may not sell you just the switch - they like to replace the entire ignition system, which is $$$$.

The only non standard "tool" I can think of for replacing the ignition switch is a paper clip to get the lock out of the old cylinder.
