My 2010 PTT with Entre&Drive came with a cheap black plastic key which doesn't offer the right premium feel you should expect when you fire up the V8 engine.
So I decided to spend huge money to replace it with an OEM Chrome mat dummy key that now seems to come standard.
Replacement takes 20 seconds. Turn the dummy key to the far left and hold it that way 10 seconds. You will hear a click that unlocks the mechanism. Turn back the dummy key to its normal standby position and you can then remove it.
Just a month ago I masked the center portion off using blue tape and painted it red along with clear to match the dials. I thought if it turned out badly I'd go the same route as you. So far I like it!

I have a post on an S I'm looking to buy. Talked to the dealer about the keyless entry. He said out here, SF Bay Area there is a high chance your car will have the windows broken if the dummy key is left in the ignition. I was told that at least once a week someone comes in with a broken window because the crooks think someone left their key in the car.
Sad this happens. Wish Porsche could come up with real keyless system like a BMW has. Still want the S if deal happens, but just some FYI to those with the keyless entry.
You're not concerned that someone will break your window and think they can steal your car?
Just picked up a 2014 S and the dealer told me how they are getting several cars a month to have Windows replaced.
It's a nice town where the dealer is and I live in a nice neighborhood but crime has no boundaries.
Hope it never happens to any of you but I'm glad I don't have the "dummy" key.
I'm in the area you previously referred to and haven't had a problem in 3 years with a car that is parked outside a lot.
But I'd take a broken window every once in a while in order to avoid having to put that toy car into the ignition every time I wanted to turn it on, or having to fumble for it in my pocket simply to get into the car. It's really convenient when your hands are full and you don't have to find the key just to open the door or trunk.
No one knows that's a key. Just had the manager at a tire store take 5 minutes to find how to start the car. It looks like a light switch more than a key ignition.

Thieves are not smart to think that someone who owns a 100K+ premium vehicle would leave the key in the ignition in a parked and locked car.
