Post Your High Mileage Porsche
At what mileage did you have to replace the engine and why?
It was replaced at 142K miles. There was coolant coming out of my exhaust pipe
, it was a blown head gasket.
It's a little more complicated than that But I'll spare you the details.

122k 99 C2 Tip. Just replaced the RMS and while engine and tranny out, did the LNE IMS retrofit, replaced oil separator, water hoses, o rings and other parts that could fail soon. Looking for another glorious 100k
Sorry to jump in.. Dear 'salo65' would it be possible to see a picture(s) your headlight in better detail? Is it clear or something else? It looks like a dark to lighter transition arrangement..and lookd cool~!
I have 118K+ miles and counting...knock on wood.

About to hit 125k. I am in British Columbia attending the PCA Escape. Drove up from Las Vegas. This trip should put another 4k miles on the clock. These roads are curvaceous and stunningly beautiful. Trying to get to 250k as quickly as I can. Gotta prove those air cooled guys wrong about our cars! Going home down the Pacific Coast. Can't wait.
2001 C4 103K Miles
My 2001 C4 is running strong at 103K highway commutation miles. So far, I have replaced the brakes/clutch/IMS bearing assembly with LE Engineering parts and current RMS at same time that I did the clutch at 96K miles/engine mounts/assorted front end wearable parts. I also put in the LE Engineering thermostat and the car now runs at speed on the highway at or a bit under 180 degrees. I also am very careful not to run the RPMs over 3K until the engine and transmission are well saturated with heat. Also, I do keep the RPMs between minimum 3K and maximum 4K except for occasional pops to 6K.
As the leather and the painted portions of the interior showed wear, after the mechanical work I refinished the leather and resprayed the painted parts and replaced side bolster leather on both L and R front seats such that the interior looks and even smells new.
My very experienced Porsche mechanic told me that around 150K "things in the engine will start breaking." The implication of what he said is that the ceiling on the engine's mileage is around 150K. I am considering replacing the water pump and the lifter pads as preventive maintenance although there are no symptoms of either being compromised. Any suggestions?
Logic of doing the renovations is that the used price of a 100K plus C4 is quite modest and with a total investment of US$10K in all that I describe above, I have a Porsche that will continue to provide good service for at least another 40K plus miles.
Paint shows the wear, but polishes up well. I have a clear bra on the nose, so there is less road damage to the nose of the C4. I change the oil every 7K miles. It drives and handles very well. If you saw and drove it you would not think that it had such high mileage.

Mine is at 74k....when i got her i was putting 10-12k a year, i was going to get a new one to replace her but i have multiple cars and am only putting 3K a year on her....if you figure what "Cicerosecundus " says at 150 they start breaking just as a general rule then i have just over 25 years to go....so my 02 is staying exactly where she is, plus i have a porsche warranty till 2012/100k, renewable up to 100k on the odo....
im thinking just like a college fund for kids...im starting a Motor fund for my car....HAHA
