Anyone using RemoteTop and SMarttop ?

I have this problem, anyone ever came across such thing ? This is a copy of the email I sent to them but never got answered back.

Hello,

I have a 2004 911 996 Turbo Cabriolet. I have your RT996 anf ST996 product
and experimenting a strange behavior. When I press the unlock button(on the
remote)and hold it for 2 sec, it will unlock, lower the windows (4) opens
the top and close up the windows (2). Until now, it's ok.

However, when I press the lock button(on the remote) and hold it for 2 sec,
the windows will go down (4 or them and assuming they were all up before I
lock the car), the top will close and the windows will go up but ONLY 2 inch
(all 4 of them). All windows will not close properly.

Please advise.
Bo

sounds like a defective module- I would never rely solely on emails, is it possible to give them a call?

Sounds like a timed-relay is timing out too soon.

I had a little glitch in my smart top (1999 C2). There is a protocol for a global reset. Check the website to be sure but i think you open everything up, turn the key to the on position (don't start it) and hold the "top down" button for 12 seconds. I think that resets everything to the default. there may be a similar protocol for the Remote Top and/or something that needs to be done in sequence.

Good luck!

I have both with no problems, but from what I hear when there are problems, the Smarttop folks have no problem replacing the units if they are defective.

WDC 911

Please explain what you do to close your top with the remote and how the windows closes.

Thank
Bo

Is the RT996 just a newer version of the ST996? Can someone set me straight?

Thanks
Rob

RT is RemoteTop and performs different functions than the ST (SmartTop). As it sounds, the RT will allow you to open and close the top remotely....the ST allows one-touch operation....both increase your ability to control rear windows.

ST (SmartTOP) also provides remote key operation of top.

All of the exact product info is on their website (or you could call them) www.mods4cars.com

Thanks, guys. I think you are both right ... as it says on the site, the RT996 is a new product as is an add-on to the ST996 (added features). If I'm reading it right, the ST996 offers the one touch of the OEM buttons (also key fob) and the RT996 focuses mostly on the keyfob and bonus features.

All great stuff! I think it was the website name I was missing to find this info. Thanks!

Rob

all you need is the SmartTOP unit for everything. sign up at www.pcars.us and send a PM to BlackKnight (or look in the group buy section there), he sells them at a member discount.

Not mine...and I really don't want this option anyway.

I see they have combined the RT and ST functions to one unit...the smartTOP...mine is the older version.
