Temperature light is blinking???
new (to you) car?
If 1st time, I would just top it off;
But if it is a recurring problem your coolant reservoir might be cracked...
you might want to replace it.
there is a beautiful walkthrough on renntech in the diy section.

I just bought the car. It was wrecked and it has brand new radiators on it. Just had the mechanic put in new coolant and vaccuum lines to make sure all coolant went in correctly then found small leak when bumper was put back on. Light blinks and temp. goes to about 195-200 tops.

It's a very hard leak to detect at first because it usually doesn't leak too bad and what does leak gets burned off by the exhaust. I would just keep an eye on it, becuase most shops won't be able to detect it.
This is true most shops will not be able to detect it if they don't know what they are looking for. The proper way to get that leak to show itself is to pressure test the cooling system and pressure test the cap. It is important that you take care of it asap bc It could crack can get worse and cause an overheat condition with out you noticing and burn up the motor. A good indication to see if the expansion tank is old is to look at the color of the plastic itself, is it yellowed? Or is the expansion tank cap blue? This is an old cap and they have updated ones that are black. Overall sounds like you just had the system flushed you should always flush and then take it for a drive and then top it off in the morning when it cools off, these systems tend to (burp). Hope that helps.
How is the light blinking? If the light is solid and needle pegged to the right, your coolant is too hot. If it is blinking slowly it is either low coolant level or the engine compartment is too hot. Flashing fast is an indication that you have a bad temperature sensor.
A bad coolant level sensor at the bottom of the tank will also cause the light to flash.
Since you just had the coolant changed, be sure that the system is properly bled.
