Who's got the best insurance rates for P-cars?

My wife and I were looking over the bills today and we're paying about $1900 a year on our 02 C2 with clean records (knock on wood). It's even listed as a pleasure car with use under 5K a year.

This seems like way too much money. If it's not being too nosey, would you guys mind posting your companies and your rates if they're better than this?

Shop around, you should do this every 2 years or so. There are a lot of variables, Like your age, and location, as well as type of auto, and as you mention, your driving record.

You don't say what your deductible is, and before you select a high one, have your agent quote several, you may, or may not see much difference.

When in Fla, my 01 was running around $900/year with clean record and the multicar discount, $250/$500/$250k limiits, uninsured motorist, $500 or $1k deductible (forget which) pleasure use (under 7500/yr miles), etc with State Farm.

Mr. Kram Who are you insuring with?

JNX MY deducible is $500. I should probably raise it as I wouldn't even think about filing if it's under $1000 worth of damage.

Use a $1000 deductible, you pay a lot for $500 worth of coverage if you don't.

I had Geico for years, but they hate sports cars. I'm with Nationwide now, WAY cheaper than anything else I could find (and I shopped extensively). A friend turned me on to them a few years ago and I thought he was full of BS until I got a quote from them. Turned out to be more than 1/3rd less than what anyone else would quote me (and I've got a clean driving record). I think they factor in your credit score. Bought it over the web (or you can call them): http://quote.nationwide.com/autoquot...sp?language=en

And no, I'm not in any way affiliated with them. Just happy to pass along a really good deal when I see one. If you fit their profile, you won't find a better deal. I also ended up switching my other policies to them and saving a bunch of money on each one and they were all with different carriers. Great company.

Also, get an umbrella policy if you don't already have one. It's not expensive and it'll be the best money you ever spent if you ever need it. Anyone with an expensive car should have one.

Andrew,

Try Firemans Fund of Nebraska. They got me for less than $1200 on the GT3 with $1000 deductable, agreed value, and very high limits. They had me for less than $700 with my 99 C2 with a similar policy.

Andrew I pay about 1300 on my Turbo in Tampa with progressive... You can go to their website and get a quote in minutes... You can also compare to other companies right on their site...

I live in NJ and I think we have one of the highest rates in the country. I insure my 03 Cab as a classic and it costs me $1400 a year. I am very restricted in usage. My reg company quoted me....Are you sitting???....$5700. Pretty funny huh? BTW I am 43 with no accident and no tickets married and live in a nice area and always keep the car garaged. If any other members in NJ have any suggestions I am all ears

I live near the stolen car capital of NJ. I have three cars:

03 Pathfinder ($1370)
98 A4 ($1114)
02 C2 ($1564)

39 y.o. (as of yesterday) married male with two kids. Own my own home and have a clean record for ten years. I switched from Liberty Mutual to Allstate last year. The total premium for the same three cars with LM was $5,700 per year.

I did an online quote with GEICO and it came in about $1,000 cheaper than my current bill. However, I had GEICO 15 years ago and after one stolen car and a minor fender bender (not my fault) they dropped me. As a 25 y.o. male that had been denied insurance the rates I was quoted were astronomical. So I am a little reluctant to sign on with them again incase I have an accident or have my baby stolen.

BTW, now I'm depressed after reading what some of you guys pay in insurance and here I was thinking I was getting a steal.
